Rare mare s. Posted January 26, 2018 #51 Share Posted January 26, 2018 Do you mind me asking....Is Capt Jose taking over from Capt Carl? And I understand there is a new CD taking over from Russ? Is Philip still there as HD? P.s. thanks for info on food and chef’s table! My understanding is that Capt Jose was coming aboard when Capt Carl left in Caldera. Philip is still there as HD (and still does a brilliant job!) I had not heard about the new CD...but I am certain that they needed to hire someone to give Russ (who was in top form on our cruise) some time off. My only food related regret is that we didn't also book the Cuban Chef's Table...the menu looked wonderful.

The schedule for Senior Officers have changed from what is posted on AZ web site so just trying to figure out all the changes due to Pursuit being added to the fleet. Looking forward to everything! Including a chef’s table experience.....now to decide on which menu to try....
Grandma Cruising Posted January 26, 2018 #53 Share Posted January 26, 2018 We have just got home from this cruise. It was wonderful. Everything was really great. The food was excellent, best of our 6 Azamara cruises, we loved Costa Rica and as mare s has said there was a marvellous mix of people on the ship and we too met many lovely people. I’d also like to thank Jazzbeau for his work in maintaining the Roll-Call and keeping in touch with us all. At 105 it was the biggest Roll-Call of any Cruise we have been on. The Meet & Mingle was a really great time to connect with others and get to know people. Sent from my iPad using Forums
upwarduk Posted January 29, 2018 #54 Share Posted January 29, 2018 The White Night was particularly lively...the food fantastic and everyone was up dancing. It was a bit sad, however, as it was Captain Carl's last on Quest. I have just read Captain Carl’s final blog, which he wrote during his last few days on Quest. https://www.azamaraclubcruises.com/es/blog/desk-captain-carl

Really looking forward to joining him on Pursuit’s maiden it should be a great event. Sent from my iPad using Forums
nonrev1 Posted January 29, 2018 #56 Share Posted January 29, 2018 We are on the Journey now. The casino has been refit with electronic gaming tables. If you thought only a few people used the casino before, the number has gone down with the new tables. We are on with a friend who is a gambler and he will not play the electronic tables. Honestly, when they did the Journey drydock they would have been better suited to remove the casino all together and make the entire area a lounge. (Like the Adonia prior to the drydock to convert to the Pursuit). The electronic tables are annoying and the fake people (sorry, don’t know what else to call them) are constantly asking you to sit down and play. They have had to turn down the volume several times. One of the new Captains is onboard and we have noticed what seems like more of a rotation of guest entertainers. Two of the entertainers that joined the ship in Singapore were excellent. Sorry to hijack the thread....just wanted to comment on some of the changes.
nonrev1 Posted January 29, 2018 #57 Share Posted January 29, 2018 Forgot, NewbieF....we are in an N1 CC Suite. I have too much stuff I bought in Bali on the chair to extend it.:o But, from what I can tell, no it would not restrict access to the balcony. I wonder if they are just testing on Journey and may go for the complete removal when Quest is looked at Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare oddjob16 Posted January 29, 2018 #59 Share Posted January 29, 2018 So if I understand it correctly, the space of the «former» Casino has not been used to expand the Spirits Bar seating area, but is now just an expanded electronic gaming area. Hmmmm.:o

Rare uktog Posted January 29, 2018 #61 Share Posted January 29, 2018 That doesn’t sound like an improvement,[emoji10] Sent from my iPad using Forums Agreed - let us hope it is a temporary test that can be removed - if the "hosts" who are trying to encourage users don't encourage enough folks, they will not be cost effective. Given that whoever the supplier is will have to pay Azamara for their onboard accommodation and also Azamara will be expecting a return on the investment, this could be a very short experiment. Very disappointing news, hopefully they will find it a total failure and remove it, would be much better to extend Spirit’s lounge seating. Lottie A Posted January 29, 2018 #63 Share Posted January 29, 2018 I agree. I wouldn't have minded a few modern slot machines right at the back of Spirits bar, but I really dislike the idea of the "robot type" automatic gaming tables. They will be intrusive and it just seems tacky to me. More suited to a Carnival ship than Azamara.

Hmmmm.:o Sounds like a placeholder until a drydock allows reconfiguring the area. Saves the salaries of the croupiers -- the machines can always be reused elsewhere by the vendor. Rare mare s. Posted January 29, 2018 #65 Share Posted January 29, 2018 My husband likes to play blackjack (with a live person!) and I'll throw a few dollars in the slots, but no thank you to electronic gaming. I agree that if you're going to remove the blackjack and roulette tables, there are better ways to use the area...more seating, more live entertainment, etc. It will be interesting to see the changes next year when we're on board again. mare
silkismom Posted January 30, 2018 #66 Share Posted January 30, 2018 Did I miss it--or who is taking our the Quest as Captain? We are on her in a little over a week. Will really miss Capt Carl, but will be rejoining him on the Pursuit next Aug going to Iceland.
nonrev1 Posted January 30, 2018 #67 Share Posted January 30, 2018 Jazzbeau, They are not using the casino space on the Journey as a placeholder until dry dock. We boarded the Journey when it came out of dry dock. The electronic tables were put on during the dry dock. This is what it is going to be until it fails and hopefully make the decision to remove it. The Pursuit will not have a casino. As for Captain....they need more with the new ship. We met one of the new Captains. Very nice and personable. I think he is from Spain.
