Pineapple Princess Posted January 17, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2018 Thinking about doing the Adventure of the Seas October 8th Quebec City to Ft Lauderdale cruise. Will this be to late for fall foliage. Thoughts please.
Merion_Mom Posted January 17, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2018 Fall Foliage colors and timing depend on weather before the fall: temperatures and rain. It's hard to predict now what kind of fall we will have.
Husky1987 Posted January 17, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2018 Interested in this as well. I've heard the later you go into Sept/Oct, the better the colors. But of course it's a balance between that and getting the better summer weather. We're looking at an October NE cruise in 2019.
Ashland Posted January 17, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2018 Thinking about doing the Adventure of the Seas October 8th Quebec City to Ft Lauderdale cruise. Will this be to late for fall foliage. Thoughts please. We have this cruise booked but for Oct 7, 2019....very excited to do this on Adventure (a favorite ship). We did the Canada New England on Anthem this past October and certainly saw more color than what we're used to here on the west coast....I don't think you'll be disappointed. Rare mac_tlc Posted January 18, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 18, 2018 Certainly can vary from year to year, but to get an idea of "typical" (which means it never actually happens), try this link: https://newengland.com/seasons/fall/foliage/peak-fall-foliage-map/ click on a date and look at the map. mac_tlc
Desert Cruizers Posted January 18, 2018 #6 Share Posted January 18, 2018 We sailed late Oct in 2015 and the colors were abundant. Temperatures ran around low to mid 50's in our Canada Ports and into Maine then slowly climbed up to low 70's by Boston . Quebec was quite cold with temperatures the morning of embarking, in the upper 30's at 9 AM .
1025cruise Posted January 18, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 18, 2018 Its hard to predict foliage. This past year it would have been early. In years past it would have been a good time.
westcoastvecs Posted January 18, 2018 #8 Share Posted January 18, 2018 mac_tlc that was a cool link! Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
cruisegal40 Posted January 18, 2018 #9 Share Posted January 18, 2018 As with the Caribbean. It's all about the weather. Can go either way. If you can wait until the summer is here and see what our rain falls are. That is a good indication. Good luck
Rare mac_tlc Posted January 18, 2018 #10 Share Posted January 18, 2018 mac_tlc that was a cool link! Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Your welcome ! Lived in CT all my life and I've seen too much Fall foliage (usually on my lawn!) so, although the "peak" can vary, it's probably within two weeks of what that link shows. mac_tlc

dschultz56 Posted January 18, 2018 #12 Share Posted January 18, 2018 We have done Canada/New England about 4-5 years at varying times (Late Sept, Early Oct, Late Oct). When the fall colors look the best is very hard to tell and even where. One year they looked great in Maine but no so much in Halifax and other Canada locations...and we went to Maine first. This year they were probably the best, but we had a lot of overcast days and the photo's didn't look as well. We are booked on Adventure in mid-Sept this year. We'll see how it goes. Regardless, it's a great cruise after a summer in Houston.
Laurie12820 Posted January 18, 2018 #13 Share Posted January 18, 2018 Columbus Day weekend is usually prime "leaf peeping" time here in New England. The weather has been pretty out of the norm the last few years though which has impacted the foliage. This past fall the foliage wasn't very vibrant and it didn't last very long. It's not looking too promising for this year as a lot of the trees still haven't dropped their leaves, which experts are saying will not be good for the trees.
