Rare curlybelle2 Posted February 10, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2018 When you go through the locks in the Panama Canal is Skywalkers on the CB open for viewing of the locks? We have a disabled person with us and need a place to sit to view. thanks, Kaye
ltcal94 Posted February 10, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 10, 2018 I don’t see a reason why you couldn’t do that . Sent from my iPad using Forums
capriccio Posted February 10, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 10, 2018 I've always found Skywalkers open when looking for a quiet place to read or just watch the ocean. Now the bar has specific hours but those will be noted on the back page of the Patter.
tcdcruiser Posted February 10, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2018 Skywalkers will likely be a popular location....especially those seats with windows. Be early is my suggestion.
Thrak Posted February 10, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 10, 2018 Viewing locations have crowds that change. Nobody really wants to spend the entire transit in one spot. Moving around offers better viewing and people will always be coming and going as they need to eat, drink, use the restroom, attend functions, etc.
NavyVeteran Posted February 10, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 10, 2018 When you go through the locks in the Panama Canal is Skywalkers on the CB open for viewing of the locks? We have a disabled person with us and need a place to sit to view. thanks, Kaye I just returned from a Panama Canal cruise on the Caribbean Princess. Skywalkers was open during the transit in both directions. There was no bar service there, but it was open to anyone. Skywalkers was available to anyone nearly anytime except when there is a special event scheduled there. From 5:00 to 7:00 pm every evening, it was reserved for the Platinum, Elite, and Suite event; but we finished the return canal transit much earlier than that. It is also sometimes reserved for private parties - many times the Cruise Critic Meet and Greet is held there, but I doubt they would schedule a private party during the canal transit. If you have someone who has trouble moving around, Skywalker's may be a great place to see the canal. However, there is a long ramp to get up to Skywalker's. Someone in an electric skooter or being pushed in a wheelchair could probably make it; someone pushing themselves in a manual wheelchair probably could not. The moving sidewalk (up only) was turned on only when they had events scheduled; it was not running during the canal transits.

satxdiver Posted February 11, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 11, 2018 Skywalker's usually only has bar service in the late evening when the DJ is spinning music. It is used for the PES gathering from 5 to 7 PM normally (sometimes it moves to Club Fusion due to large number of PES aboard). It also is used for gatherings but going through the locks is a major event and gatherings are not scheduled at that time. It will be crowded most likely as you transit the three locks going in and three going out. Pax usually move around to see.
