CaFireCaptain Posted February 20, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 20, 2018 Is there a good, quiet beach within a cab ride from the ship to go to ( CCL Liberty). We did a snorkel trip last time, which was cool but don’t want to pay that much just to go swimming again. And does CCL dock in the same place as RCCL, if anyone knows. Thanks for any info. bobandsherry Posted February 20, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 20, 2018 We were there a couple weeks ago. Did beach excursion through Carnival. Reasonable and included clam shell and float raft. We also did monkey and parrot tour the time before that, was ok. Sent from my LG-H872 using Tapatalk
Jerseygirl1416 Posted February 20, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 20, 2018 I’ve been researching Roatan and Belize. I found a place called Sol y Mar that I made a reservation for in Roatan. They pick you up and drop you back at the pier when you want and it’s included in the price. It’s pretty new but google it and see what you think. timc.jb Posted February 20, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 20, 2018 I booked a private excursion with Ron @Roatan Adventure Tours. It was one of the best excursions my family and I have even been on. You can read his reviews on tripadvisor by searching.
JaxsMama Posted February 20, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 20, 2018 I wouldn't call the beach at the port quiet but it's free. You can walk right down the path to the beach and grab some chairs. There is also a beach bar with servers walking around. Sent from my SM-G928V using Forums mobile app
Rare 1025cruise Posted February 20, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 20, 2018 One thing to consider, if you book a private excursion in Roatan, you need to make your own way to the Mahogany Bay entrance to be picked up. Only ship's excursion vendors and taxis are allowed past the gate.

originalgeek Posted February 20, 2018 #11 Share Posted February 20, 2018 We won an excursion to an island with a beach resort and snorkeling and small zoo with monkeys and birds and some other animals. Beach was beautiful and the bar had plenty and the food was good. But I can't remember what the name of it was. We had to take a ferry to the island. We had planned to do a tour of the island with Victor Bodden tours but when we won the excursion we decided free was better than even Victor's reasonable fee. We plan to go back and do that tour with him though (check out the Roatan board here - he gets great reviews) because my wife really wants to see the cameo factory. Victor Bodden tour basically gets you a private driver that knows the island and takes you anywhere you want to go but they can arrange all kinds of experiences depending what you want to do. Eating, shopping, sight-seeing, drinking - they know all the cool spots.

originalgeek Posted February 20, 2018 #14 Share Posted February 20, 2018 How did you win it? Sounds like Little French Key. it was on the first sea-day - we went to that newbie cruiser show in the big auditorium and they had a lot of drawings for things. We were shocked as we generally never win anything lol. I just looked - it was Maya Key - the buffet lunch was included and we got to go in the cage with the monkeys and get pictures with them and we mostly just laid in beach chairs in the shade and watched the ocean lol. rolloman Posted February 20, 2018 #15 Share Posted February 20, 2018 I stopped going there once this happened. You may not want to venture outside the fenced in cruise port area..... http://www.cruiselawnews.com/2014/04/articles/crime/ncl-crew-member-shot-killed-in-roatan-honduras/
Pyrate13 Posted February 21, 2018 #16 Share Posted February 21, 2018 That was back in 2014. Crime can happen anywhere in the world. We've been to Roatan multiple times and always venture outside the gates. Never had any problems and find the locals quite friendly. Victor Bodden tours is a good start for something to do and he is reasonably priced.

csteary Posted February 21, 2018 #19 Share Posted February 21, 2018 Tabyana Beach was a nice spot. Food and sand. Parasailing if you want to pay extra and snorkeling. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
coevan Posted February 21, 2018 #20 Share Posted February 21, 2018 Carnival loves their fear mongering for shore excursions. Any professional company with good reviews will get you back to the ship on time.
Rare splash_in_the_water Posted February 21, 2018 #21 Share Posted February 21, 2018 looked like they had some cool excursions but it was a pretty nice port. the beach was great. snorkeling was pretty nice too. we didn't do much for the shopping or food there but it's a pretty nice port anyway. We liked the little walk up through the woods on the hill instead of back around.
Obsessed with cruises Posted February 21, 2018 #22 Share Posted February 21, 2018 we did an excursion through Carnival that included ATV jungle tour and beach break at Sol y Mar. The place had a bar and restaurant area that offered local beer and food with great service. I wasn't impress with the actual beach though..... lots of seashells that made it uncomfortable to walk if you didn't have water shoes. Other wise nice beach to relax. cpshaye Posted February 21, 2018 #24 Share Posted February 21, 2018 Another vote for Little French Key.... Loved it the first time, but didn't have much time. We specifically chose our November cruise so we could go back for a longer time!
teempee123 Posted February 21, 2018 #25 Share Posted February 21, 2018 I just came back from Maya Key. Loved it.. I have been to Tabyana Beach.. I loved the snorkeling there, but it is hard to relax because of the locals trying to sell..
