The CCH is Rose. The MCC is Niko. The suite manager is Erick. I posted the officers sheet to the Celebrity in the Spotlight page on FB. Sorry it is too hard here requiring a third party host that photobucket no longer supports.

Tom:

Please say "hi" to them and give them my best. Enjoy your time on Silhouette.

Hi Tom ~ Yes, I will be there. I spoke with the onboard event coordinator today who told me Celebrity was planning on hosting it at 10:30 in Cellar Masters. I'll be there at 10:00 as I don't know if they will or won't deliver the invites. See you there!

On the 3/11 sailing along with a gaggle of others following here, Anne. Did invites ever appear? The consensus on our roll call is to either check with Guest Services personnel or on the GS bulletin board. So looking forward to trying X - I can smell the sea already. :D

dinner with the chocolate soufflé and the dessert I can’t recall the name(but it was chocolate mouse with coffee ice cream and salted caramel and chocolate sauce).

That alone would be worth the price of admission. If you happen to wake in the middle of the night with an "AHA!" and remember the name......

Texed ~ I'm happy to report that I went straight to the waffle station this morning and grabbed a "hot off griddle" waffle. Still really good and make me think of you! We'll leave some for your arrival....:D:D:D

Ms. Anne,

You are making me very hungry. :p

Hi Gang ~ I promise to go back through and read all the questions that have been asked that I've missed. I'll do my best to answer all of them. For now, here's an update on our Cruise Critic Party! More to come tomorrow.

CRUISE CRITIC PARTY

The saga of struggling to register for Cruise Critic parties on Celebrity’s website continues. Most could not register through the link posted to Celebrity’s website. Some called the Captain’s Club number(1-800-760-0654) and explained the problem and the Captain’s Club representative helped them register. Even though I received a email telling me I was registered (just two of us total) that didn’t mean anything. The majority of us never received a notice in the cabin about the party. Several did but it seems it was only those who called the Captains Club.

In speaking with the event coordinator, she said that on Silhouette, the Cruise Critic party is always the first sea day at 10:15 AM in Cellar Masters. Because of the ongoing struggle with on-line registration they plan to automatically host the party regardless of what number of registrations they receive. So if you are sailing Silhouette in the future, plan to show up at 10:15 AM on the first sea day. You can also ask for the Event Coordinator at guest relations and they’ll find her for you to confirm the time and location. I was also told that the time and location are posted on the Community Board at guest relations….so you can look there as well if you think of it (I never do).

All that said, we had about 30 people show up for the party today. It was very nice with a variety of officers in attendance, too. The Captain, Staff Captain, Guest Relations Manager, Cruise Director and more joined us in Cellar Masters. It’s always nice when they stop by to say hello.

Hi Anne. We are onboard also, and we're also surprised by how early we had our luggage, and the early sail away. Also agree with muster drill comments. Like the new paella station at lunch in the OVC on embarkation day. My biggest personal gripe so far are the brioche at breakfast. I have always looked forward to them as part of my daily routine. The ones this morning were not the same old brioche. Really more of a dry roll. Very disappointing. At least the scones at tea are still yummy. And now they have real clotted cream in little jars as well as the whipped cream.

My sister-in-law and I went to both of Aronovitch's comedy shows and found him pretty funny. The adult only show was as billed. Not for the sensitive eared.

Hi Host Anne,

Looks like myself and a few of my fellow 3/11/2018 comrades are following this thread closely. I’d appreciate your comments on the following:

-Thoughts on CC Hostess Rose? I don’t recognize the name. A god CC host is important to me.

-Wine-O mentioned a discount to upgrade to the Premium drink package. Curious to know if that is being offered.

-Bands/Musicians onboard. Names and your views are appreciated.

-St Maarten. My favourite stop. How is it doing? Any good news on Orient Beach?

Looking forward to your review.

Hi Rick ~

Met CC Hostess Rose last night for the first time. Very sweet and polite. I'll keep you posted as we go throughout the cruise.

Premium Drink Package: We're on the GO BEST so the premium drink package was included.

Entertainers on board:

Guitar Vocalist - Robson Diem - very good. I'd call him more of a jazz guitarist but has a very nice voice, too.

Neptune Duo: a very nice string duo.

House Band is Dancing Town: Seems fine. Haven't spent a lot of time listening to them yet.

Acoustic Duo Dallas Bridge - Haven't had a chance to hear them yet but I'll report back.

St. Maarten ~ we have dear friends living here. I will give you a full report on each port of call.

Host Anne

Can you ask about the dinning packages, no longer available online since Friday.

Not for sale anymore or Web site problem?

You can try calling Celebrity to pre-book your drink package. They are usually available until 3 days before sailing. No worries, though, you'll be approached many times in the first two days about purchasing or upgrading a drink package by crew onboard.

I'll stop by Murano again and look at the menu so I can post the name of the dessert. It was very good!

Thanks for taking time out of your cruise to provide helpful information. I'm thinking of dining at Murano for the last night of our 4/1/18 sailing, but would like to take advantage of any discounts once I am on board. I have read that perhaps a 50% discount might be offered for Murano on the first night. In the 18 cruises I've enjoyed, the MDR has usually been very good, but since this is an anniversary trip, it would be nice to enjoy an elegant and special dinner. I will be in Aqua class (first time!) and wonder if is this something the concierge might arrange. Have a wonderful time on the lovely Silhouette.

THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND CHIC NIGHT

We booked this cruise primarily for a relaxing getaway and to visit the islands that were badly damaged by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. We vacation annually on St. John and have many friends who lost everything or had significant damage. We also have good friends on St. Maarten. Getting back to visit them and help support the recovery was important to us (we are planning our annual May vacation to St. John as usual). That means we’re pretty laid back during the day on the ship. Reading, relaxing, enjoying lunch.

This afternoon, one of our Cruise Critic members hosted a slot tournament in the casino. We had 12+ people participate. When the slots weren’t particularly good to us we moved to the roulette table. It wasn’t kind, either, but it prolonged the fun and provided enjoyment for the group for 30 – 45 minutes. It’s great when members offer to do things like this.

There is the regular offerings of trivia, bingo, dance classes, art auctions, pool games, Beyond the Podium series, etc. that is being offered each day. You should be able to find something you’d enjoy or you can choose to read a book by the pool or on one of the outdoor decks with chairs or join in games in the card room (it was packed today).

We stopped by the Captain’s Club cocktail hour in Sky Lounge this evening and were greeted by the Captain’s Club hostess, Rose. She was very sweet! We enjoyed appetizers and drinks and chatted with other Cruise Critic members.

We dined at table 238 on the lower level of the main dining room this evening. Our waiter, Rudy, was very nice and efficient. I ordered the French Onion Soup for my appetizer and my husband enjoyed the escargot. Both were very, very good. We each got the Shrimp Scampi for our entrée. It was a bit on the dry side, but it tasted OK. Five shrimp were served over linguine. A bit more scampi sauce would have made it better but it was OK as is. What I really liked was the smaller portion size. Some may complain it was too small, but you can always ask for second and they are happy to bring you an additional portion. In the past entrée can be too big for me and then I can’t eat it all. I’d much rather have it this way….smaller portions and ask for more if needed. The smaller portion also allowed me to indulge in dessert (which I normally skip). The crème brulée was great! Three taps of the spoon to crack the sugar is perfect!

We had hoped to make it to the comedian show tonight but I was too tired so we called it a night around 10:30.

Because it’s such a hot topic, I’ll mention attire on Chic Night (but let’s NOT get into a debate about it on this thread….I’m merely sharing my observations). We saw everything from tuxes and cocktail dresses to people in jeans and t-shirts(yep, jeans and t-shirts). I’m not quite sure why Celebrity designates any kind of dress for any evening at this point. People do what they want regardless. It’s very funny to see people dressed from one extreme to the other. Doesn’t bother us as there is nothing we can do about it except choose to vacation differently if we don’t like it. It’s pretty much the way the entire world is these days, as I see it. OK….promise that we will not get into a dress code fight in this thread!

Overall, a great first day at sea.

By the way, for the comments about Celebrity becoming elitist,I’ll be happy to engage in that discussion in another thread after the cruise. My take is Celebrity, like any cruise line (and I’ve sailed a few of them) are in business to make money. We’ve never stayed in a suite or aqua class. On this cruise we are in a standard sunset veranda (no perks with this room). Quite honestly, I feel (and always have) that the crew on board have been very friendly and kind to us. Yes, cabin cards can differentiate cabin categories such as suites and aqua class, but I have never felt that we receive any different service than those in higher priced cabins. Sure, they get more perks, but the are paying for them. There are plenty of cruise lines out there to try if one is unhappy with the line they are sailing on. It’s up to each of us to choose how we spend our time and money.

There are two dessert shuffles on the dessert menu. I had both last week. Not at the same meal. They are the Grand Mariner Souffle and the Chocolate Souffle. Both are outstanding. Comes with white coffee ice cream on the side.

Murano is outstanding on the Silhouette.

Just want to thank all who are taking time out of their treasured time on board to post and answer questions! I know we hang on your every word as we anticipate our upcoming cruise!

Enjoy:)

Awe, Mama ~ you are most welcome. This is the first time we've had unlimited internet so it's made it quite easy to write a "LIVE FROM" thread. As I mentioned, we took this cruise to get away and relax. I love to share experiences so it's not taking time away from the cruise at all :D:D Glad you are enjoying it!
