briehon Posted May 7, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2018 After perusing some MDR menus, I noticed that a cheese plate is on every dessert menu. Anyone order this as an app? Think I could? Also, anyone ever order it? How is it, what’s on it, got a pic? Sent from my iPad using Forums
mdsgu Posted May 7, 2018 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2018 I'm sure you could. The waiters really want and try to keep guests happy.
lennythenose Posted May 7, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 7, 2018 Yes. People do it all the time. I’ve even heard of people asking for it on the first night and the rest of the cruise it would be waiting when they were seated.
TifStainbrook Posted May 7, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 7, 2018 We loved the cheese plate. They even let me take mine to my room for after dinner. I really enjoyed it.
bury me at sea Posted May 7, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 7, 2018 I generally get one every evening, sometimes as an appetizer and sometimes as dessert.
naxer Posted May 7, 2018 #6 Share Posted May 7, 2018 I usually get it as a dessert, but I know people get it as a appetizer. Fancy cheeses, some fruit, a couple little slices of bread. The components vary. If you google it, there are a bunch of pics and it shows you how it can vary.
Micahs Grandad Posted May 7, 2018 #7 Share Posted May 7, 2018 We get it on occasion. Portions are on the small side
AR Patriot Posted May 7, 2018 #8 Share Posted May 7, 2018 FYI. If you like the MDR cheese plate, you will love the steak house cheese plate. Same flavors but way more expensive cheese, plus a lot bigger portion. Sent from my FRD-L04 using Forums mobile app

SadieN Posted May 9, 2018 #16 Share Posted May 9, 2018 The buffet also has cheese. On some ships (Miracle) you can almost replicate the MDR cheese plate. Blue cheese is at the pizza station. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
DallasGuy75219 Posted May 9, 2018 #17 Share Posted May 9, 2018 I'm usually in the casino until the wee hours of the morning. Since Carnival started charging for late-night room service, I've started sometimes getting a cheese plate to-go with dessert and eating that when I get back from the casino late. Rare luckybecky Posted May 9, 2018 #18 Share Posted May 9, 2018 We love the cheese plate for dessert or appetizer! Some people here have suggested that portions are small, but I think it is plenty for two people if you are ordering it as part of a multi course meal. I love the idea of getting it "to go" and having it later in your cabin. If you ask for this will they package it specially for you?

It doesn't really need to be packaged... just ask for it to go and they will give you the plate along with the plastic cloche that it comes out of the kitchen with, along with a silverware roll. Cruiseman38 Posted May 9, 2018 #20 Share Posted May 9, 2018 I love the cheese tray. I also order one after dessert to take back to my room for a late night snack. Never been denied this request.
jmcancruise Posted May 9, 2018 #21 Share Posted May 9, 2018 DH often takes his back to the room. We have learned when we cruise to bring a few small disposable containers to put leftovers such as the cheese or trays we might order.
tattoos Posted May 9, 2018 #22 Share Posted May 9, 2018 We always order two cheese plates for our party of four to share as an additional appetizer. The cheeses offered are brie, swiss, gouda, blue cheese and one more that I can't remember, maybe a cheddar?? Our family always bring a few small disposable containers to put cookies in from the dessert display at lunch on the Lido and anything else we want to keep fresh or refrigerate. pacruise804 Posted May 11, 2018 #23 Share Posted May 11, 2018 I'm glad to read you can take things with you from MDR. Princess would not allow this - buffet was ok but they claimed regulations prohibited removal from MDR.
JohnSpo Posted May 11, 2018 #24 Share Posted May 11, 2018 I enjoy the cheese plate as an appetizer with a glass of wine as a start to the meal. Sometimes the wait staff remember and have it ready for me before I order my meal. Nice service!
