joyy7403 Posted June 7, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 7, 2018 Hmmmmmm, a typo maybe? Enjoy your Hawaii cruise, a very beautiful state! Drink the coffee & eat the fruit, delicious!
ElaineKeagy Posted June 7, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 7, 2018 Obviously an error. Call NCL. All your links appear as broken ( at least to me). So I’m not sure if that would change my comment. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare www3traveler Posted June 7, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 7, 2018 My guess would be because of the situation in Hawaii and not knowing that is going to last, they are offering you an Alaskan cruise as a replacement should you choose to cancel your Hawaii one ( lots of people are canceling Hawaiian cruise right now). The cruise they recently offered as a substitute on NCL never existed. But I should would take an offer of a new one. :D

littlelulu01 Posted June 7, 2018 #10 Share Posted June 7, 2018 Likely an autocorrect mistake. Both states have so many cities starting with a “k” that can be difficult to spell. The person typing the letter probably just didn’t notice. Ketchikan/Kahului or something like that. Have a wonderful time.

Absolutely not, it's simply a typo, that is probably already corrected.

Sauer-kraut Posted June 7, 2018 #13 Share Posted June 7, 2018 Heehehe your 7-day around the islands has turned into a trans-Pacific ... I'd book that in a heartbeat~
zqvol Posted June 7, 2018 #14 Share Posted June 7, 2018 It is a typo. The memorial itself is closed at Pearl Harbor, though the rest of the facility is open. There is no timetable as to when the memorial will reopen, as the damage is more severe than the park Service anticipated. It has nothing to do with the volcano, which is on the Big island about 300 miles away.

Linda the Book Lover Posted June 8, 2018 Author #19 Share Posted June 8, 2018 Hold on everyone! I know that the message was most likely someone not checking their work before sending an email. I thought it was funny to be offered to change to an excursion for an Alaskan cruise. I loved all of the fun responses! There are two many unhappy things that go on to not enjoy a few moments of laughter over NCL sending an email that made no sense. Besides wouldn’t it be nice to have a cruise from Hawaii to Alaska? Rare KeithJenner Posted June 8, 2018 #20 Share Posted June 8, 2018 (edited) Now that would be interesting! Lol I wonder how many days to accomplish that one. Oh the sea days in the spa! Our original plan for this Summer was to fo an Alaska cruise then fly to Hawaii and board the POA. In the end we scrapped it because of the logistics. The time between the two is too long to just fly out there directly, but not quite long enough to complete a good land section between them unless we put a 2 week gap between the cruises, which wasn't really practical. I do remember that when we first cruised with NCL about 15 years ago, they were advertising an itinerary called something like "Fire and Ice", which was basically a joint Alaska and Hawaii itinerary. I don't remember the details, such as whether you flew between them or whether you sailed there. Edit: It is discussed here: https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/showthread.php?t=311048 Edited June 8, 2018 by KeithJenner
dexddd Posted June 8, 2018 #21 Share Posted June 8, 2018 Actually NCL did have an Alaska to Hawaii on Jewel last year. I don't recall how long it took but our POA trip from SFO to Hawaii was set as 11 days but cut to 10 so Alaska to Hawaii would probably be around that many days.
