Rare John&LaLa Posted June 26, 2018 #51 Share Posted June 26, 2018 They just opened a Grills in Orlando about 20 minutes from where we live :cool:How's the view? Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Pipo Posted June 26, 2018 #52 Share Posted June 26, 2018 I have only sailed out of Port Everglades, but it's short distance to the airport, plenty of cart rentals with free shuttle, and impressive eight-cruise docking capacity, makes it a nice experience. mooseman52b Posted June 26, 2018 #53 Share Posted June 26, 2018 How's the view? Nice view of Lake Fairview (just south of Lee Road & OBT intersection). They have a floating dock and I read that they are adding paddle boat rentals.
Rare mac_tlc Posted June 27, 2018 #54 Share Posted June 27, 2018 Port Canaveral. Uncrowded, reasonable hotel costs, nice places to eat, drinks at John's, very little traffic congestion, best Royal cruise terminal. I agree, plus its only 40 minutes from our FL house. Do you need reservations at Johns or can you just show up?;) mac_tlc
Clarea Posted June 27, 2018 #55 Share Posted June 27, 2018 (edited) I agree, plus its only 40 minutes from our FL house. Do you need reservations at Johns or can you just show up?;) mac_tlc I think John and Laura would like a little advance notice.:) Edited June 27, 2018 by Host Clarea

Panda3 Posted June 27, 2018 #57 Share Posted June 27, 2018 I like Port Canaveral selfishly because it's not far from my home but if YOU are talking just things to do and a BEAUTIFUL sail - away, you have to choose Port Everglades. It's great as the ship is leaving port and you can wave at all the people lucky enough to have those intracoastal homes. I just love the sail away from Ft. Lauderdale/everglades. Rocket3D Posted June 27, 2018 #58 Share Posted June 27, 2018 Since we are close enough to see the ships....very convenient... and we only like to cruise the warm Caribbean..it is obviously PEV for us. POM, also easy from here. Yo Ho......
ryano Posted June 27, 2018 #59 Share Posted June 27, 2018 Port Canaveral by far. Royal and Carnival both keep one of their newest ships there, and for all the reasons Clarea listed and also the fact that its only a 8 hour drive instead of 11.5 - 12 to FLL and Miami. We dont fly to our cruises. Driving is much less expensive and a lot more fun.
asalligo Posted June 27, 2018 #60 Share Posted June 27, 2018 Jacksonville! No city to have to navigate when heading to the port. Plenty of open parking right next to the ship.
SharkCruiser24 Posted June 27, 2018 #61 Share Posted June 27, 2018 I’ve got a tie for favorite- port canaveral because they make everything easy! Boarding and disembarking both a breeze! But I can see port Everglades from my house so... it depends [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Forums
kknorr0320 Posted June 27, 2018 #62 Share Posted June 27, 2018 We like Canaveral because it's barely an hour drive for us, followed by Tampa. Miami is our least favorite. When we drove down last March the traffic was horrendous. When we go back next year we're going to try to get in shortly after lunch and hopefully it won't be so bad. Mama24 Posted June 27, 2018 #65 Share Posted June 27, 2018 Another vote for Port Canaveral. We always drive down to FL. PC is closer, and much easier to navigate. I always get lost driving into FLL. Never fails.
lovesthebeach2 Posted June 27, 2018 #66 Share Posted June 27, 2018 We like Port Canaveral. Even though we live a bit over an hour away, we usually stay in a hotel in Cocoa Beach the day before because we like that area.
Rare John&LaLa Posted June 27, 2018 #67 Share Posted June 27, 2018 Doubletree is almost ready. Been closed almost a year due to Irma. Should be practically new. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Rare ReneeFLL Posted June 28, 2018 #68 Share Posted June 28, 2018 I like Port Everglades the best since I live less than 5 miles from there. :D Other than PE I have only sailed out of Miami in Florida.
