Final account statement?

I'm wondering if the new procedure is to deliver the statement to the cabin only to those who have neither used the kiosk to print a copy nor viewed their charges on Princess@Sea, and thus don't deliver a printout to those who have. I don't think I received one for either of my May Alaska cruises.

I got statements in my mailbox for both those Alaska cruises.

Did Princess stop the printed final statement of account? Just off the CB and did not get one in our mailbox.

I didn't see anything official, but I assumed that that was the case. We also just got of the CB and didn't receive one, but HAD received one on the 4/1 CB sailing.

We just got off the Caribbean Princess and went to passenger services on the morning of disembarkation for our final bill. We were told the system was down the final night and they couldn't deliver the bills to the staterooms. They gave us a print out at the desk.

We departed the Emerald the end of March and had the usual final folio in our mailbox per usual. I noticed one post that the final statement was emailed which would be fine with us as I check our folio several times a day including the last night. How did the ship know to email it to you? Did you have to sign up for it somehow?

Off the Ruby on Saturday (July 7th) and each of our 3 cabins received the hard copy over night. They were not in the mailboxes when the ship departed Victoria, BC around midnight.

I also checked on line every couple of days to get any mistakes taken care of well before disembarkation.

We did not get a hard copy of our account until I called and got an email copy. Also, today I told travel agent that we did not get our TA OBC returned to us yet - and it is 5 weeks since we got off ship. She was going to look into this for us. As I have said before, if we owed them money, it would have been on our credit card immediately. Not sure why Princess is being so stingy in returning the credit - it is not like it is their money to hang onto. Our amount is $395 - not exactly small change.

I’m not sure but, since you can print out a statement any time, as many times as you want, I would imagine they might have stopped.

I check my account daily via Princess@Sea on my phone. I found charges for drinks when I had the beverage package as a perk. They were all from ordering drinks in the theater when the server got the drinks from the Casino. For some reason the Casino staff was clueless even though I know for a fact that when my number was input into the system it clearly showed that I had the beverage package. (I know this because I spent a "fair amount of time" (:o) in Wheelhouse and they showed me how the system worked. If I hadn't checked I never would have known I was being charged for those drinks. On our latest cruise (March of this year) I was charged a very bizarre charge twice but let it go. At Coffee & Cones my wife and I were each charged the gratuity on our included coffee. This only happened one time and was something like $0.38 each time. Weird. The coffee wasn't charged but somehow the 15% gratuity was charged. I have no idea how this happened but it wasn't worth going to Passenger Services to have the charges removed. It was just bizarre.

My point is that, if one has a smart phone, tablet, or laptop it is very easy - and absolutely free - to check this each day or multiple times per day. Obviously it is also free to do so at the kiosk but it requires a trip to the kiosk, figuring out how to use the kiosk (I did see people on several occasions having difficulty with this) and then reading the horribly formatted and horribly printed thing that comes out of the kiosk. I greatly prefer using Princess@Sea on my phone to ensure I don't have weird or bogus charges. Heck, I was once charged for the second drink on a BOGO.

Most on board credit is not refundable if not used on board. It depends on the source but some is held for any future cruises and other types are simply forfeited if not used “on board”. I have been on many Princess cruises and make sure I use it all up onboard for this reason. I have never received a refund.. This is stated in the “fine print”. Mike

Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. On one occasion where I didn't Passenger Services blamed it on my steward. As I had an early flight I couldn't deal with it on the ship. When I got home I called Princess and they e-mailed my folio to me. And I do check my account on a regular basis as I have found charges in error. And as many have mentioned it's easier to get these resolved while you are still on the ship.

My OBC came from the TA and was totally refundable as was $180 credit as the train was not running in Skagway. We did, finally, get the full return of $395 today, 7/10. Our cruise ended on June 2. As I say, if we owed them $395 of even $3.95 our visa card would have been charged immediately! I think they are unfair to hold this refund for such an extended time.

We were on the Coral's 5/30-6/6 sailing and received the statement. Still waiting for our OBC refund, though...

Hand to understand difficulty in using it.

Step 1) Swipe your cruise card

Step 2) Indicate if you also want printout of cabinmate's account

Step 3) Take the printed page(s)

We did not get a hard copy on the Grand. We disembarked 7-5. We noticed that adjoining cabins did have print outs in their mailboxes. We do access Princess@sea during the cruise. We saw no reason to ask for a print out.

Cheers, Denise
