beshears Posted July 25, 2018 #1 Share Posted July 25, 2018 We plan to be in St. Kitts next year. Do you know of any shops, etc. where I can purchase items MADE there?
paul58 Posted July 25, 2018 #2 Share Posted July 25, 2018 Caribelle Batik at Romney Manor that produces batik products such as clothing. Sent from my SM-T810 using Forums mobile app
ARandomTraveler Posted July 29, 2018 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2018 I second the Caribelle Batik. I bought a couple handheld fans there and was happy to see the label says it is made in St. Kitts. In fact, you can take a trip to the actual factory where they’re made. I bought our fans at their store at the port. beshears Posted January 20, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted January 20, 2019 April will almost be here, so I thought I would ask this question about St. Kitts. It was mentioned to check out Caribelle Batik (product made at St. Kitts) at Romney Manor. Is Romney Manor a store, town or what?
paul58 Posted January 20, 2019 #6 Share Posted January 20, 2019 Caribelle Batik has a store in Port Zante.
beshears Posted January 20, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted January 20, 2019 Paul58, thank you for your answer in regard to Caribelle Batik in St. Kitts. My question, is Port Zante very far (if you know) from where we dock? Do we take a Taxi to get to it, or can we walk?

beshears Posted January 20, 2019 Author #9 Share Posted January 20, 2019 Thank you Paul. That sounds simple enough to find it. 🙂
paul58 Posted January 20, 2019 #10 Share Posted January 20, 2019 Using the measuring function on Google Earth, Caribelle Batik is located approx 200 yards straight ahead after you exit the arrival bldg. It will be on your left.
beshears Posted January 20, 2019 Author #11 Share Posted January 20, 2019 Thank you Paul. I have a feeling I won't have any problem finding the place now. 🙂
Rare CruisinCrow Posted January 30, 2019 #12 Share Posted January 30, 2019 We'll be in St Kitts in a couple of weeks and signed up for the Thenford Gray tour which stops at Romney Manor. I know I'm going to want to spend the time there exploring the grounds and not shopping. Does the batik shop near the port have the same items? We should have time after the tour to shop before getting back on the ship.
paul58 Posted January 30, 2019 #13 Share Posted January 30, 2019 They will have most of the items that are found at Romney Manor. 1

Rare Vineyard View Posted February 3, 2019 #15 Share Posted February 3, 2019 In reading this, it makes me wonder if taking the time on a paid tour to Romney Manor makes sense if you can purchase near the ship? Is taking that time on a tour to another location instead worthwhile, or is the plantation estate time well spent in itself?
OCruisers Posted February 3, 2019 #16 Share Posted February 3, 2019 (edited) You may want to check this out. You can buy locally make jewelry there and is close to the ship: http.//www.palmscourtgardens.com Edited February 3, 2019 by OCruisers

We stopped at Romney Manor (nice grounds) on the way up to Brimstone Hill Fortress. They have lovely Batik stuff!! The buildings have cute Victorian Gingerbread decorations! Do a West Coast tour that includes the Fortress and other things as well! .
Rare Vineyard View Posted February 13, 2019 #20 Share Posted February 13, 2019 (edited) Thank you. Pictures sure do assist in understanding what the opportunities are. I appreciate this. beshears Posted February 13, 2019 Author #21 Share Posted February 13, 2019 Nice pictures. We these pictures from the suggested taking a "west coast tour", or asking for that in St. Kitts?
Rare CruisinCrow Posted February 19, 2019 #22 Share Posted February 19, 2019 I can confirm that there is a Caribelle Batik shop at the port. I bought a cute sundress there. But if you get a chance to visit Romney Manor, it really is beautiful. We did the Grand Tour of St Kitts with Thenford Grey. I would highly recommend it.
