Recap Day 1:

 

After a great dinner at Coastal Kitchen we just wandered around a bit, and actually won $10 in the casino!!! I’m sure we will give it back later in the week. Here are a few pictures of the genie provided decorations in our cabin:

 

We started day 2 the way every day should start, with breakfast on our balcony. I think will be a regular occurrence this week:

Quick question. Do the Star Class cards look the same as before? I heard on another thread they had changed a bit. I'm sure they are still the deep dark purple but was wondering if the design had changed?

Good afternoon! I’m writing this sitting on my balcony enjoying the sun and people watching

 

The day started with breakfast in Coastal Kitchen. Unlike most people, I don’t love it there. The food is alright, but I don’t like sitting around waiting for food. If we want Coastal Kitchen again, I would order it to my room and enjoy it on the balcony. The food does taste better than the windjammer or main dining room.

 

Following breakfast I took my daughter to kids club. She is obsessed with it as she is an only child. While she was there, I enjoyed some laps around the track then headed up to the suite deck for some reading in the sun and a mojito!

 

While walking to the suite deck I was shocked to see how many empty chairs there were after 10 o’clock.

Even at 1 when I took my daughter to the pool, I found seats right next to the pool.

 

For lunch my daughter and I went to Johnny Rockets. Our Genie walked us in since we ran into her. We were seated right away and had a milkshake and burger in our hands within minutes. This was appreciated as in the Allure we once waited 40 mins for our food.

 

After lunch, it was time to swim for an hour. Just before 2 we made our way to Studio B where our Genie was waiting for us. She had arranged ice skating for us. My daughter had a blast! So fun to be able to ice skate in the summer and on a ship!

 

She was a bit nervous at first, but started to get the hang of it. Since my daughter had so much fun, Hannah is signing us up again.

Thanks to both of you for the pictures of the seapass cards. We are looking forward to our next Star Class cruise this coming November. This will be our 3rd one and unfortunately wont book anything less. We are spoiled for sure. I find it hard looking at other cruise lines because of the wonderful service Star Class gets. I even looked at The Haven on NCL and from what I see it doesn't compare, however I could be wrong because I have not been in The Haven yet.

Noticed in fine print on the schedule that the genie put together that tapas and wine are included as Star class. It doesn’t explicitly state a dollar amount though. Assumption is that there is a max $$$ per glass that is included? Can you please confirm? Thanks again!

 

From my experience on two Star Class cruises the allowed amounts go by the deluxe beverage package, however we have gone over the allowed amount by $5.00 for a glass of wine and when the bill comes the waiter will say "because you are Star Class we will not charge you the difference". I'm sure if its way over the amount they will charge you. Hope this helps.;)

So happy that you are enjoying your Star Class experience. We sailed on Ovation in Star Class, and were amazed by the experience.

 

It would be fantastic to sail in that class again real soon [emoji120] (hope the hubby is reading this - lol).

We weren't that impressed with CK either.

We actually preferred the WJ for breakfast/lunch.

A little background on us: We all love to cruise and our Loyal to Royal, but have been on carnival and princess. We were on the Allure, with my dad instead of my brother, in February. We booked an owner’s suite, but had the most amazing surprise when we tried to get into our room only to realize they had upgraded us to a star lift suite (1720)! We received all the perks of star class minus the pay. It ended up working in Royal’s favor as we now are booking star class because we enjoyed it so much.

 

We land in Orlando tonight and are staying at the Hyatt Grand Cypress. We are renting a car and will drive down Sunday morning, return car, and shuttle to port. We have arranged a 12:00 arrival with our genie.

We arrived at the port at 11:30 and was quickly escorted by Brian through security and the lines. We then quickly met our genie Hannah and had our pictures taken. We never had to wait and were in our room before 12:00 along with our luggage. My daughter was very excited to see they had decorated the room for her birthday and provided a cake along with some other treats and champagne. The mini bar was stocked to our liking. We quickly unpacked and headed to Sabor for lunch. My brother and I were the only ones eating and ordered way too much food! We had the guacamole spicy, empanadas, bacon wrapped chicken jalapeños, and the short rib and pork tacos! All were very tasty. We are now enjoying the beautiful weather from our balcony waiting for the muster to start. We have reservations at Giovanni’s at 6:00 and the ice show at 8:30.

For us, when we filled out the pre-cruise survey we said it was our anniversary and our grandsons birthday. The genie took it from there. We never ordered it , it just “appeared” !

Just wanted to finish off the rest of our day. After relaxing on our balcony, we went to Sabor for some chips and guacamole (ask for spicy. It has a lot more flavor) and margaritas. What I love about being Star class is you can go in just for the guacamole. If we weren’t, we would have to pay the set happy hour fee, which isn’t worth it.

 

After our snacks we headed back to the room to get ready for dinner at Chops. To be honest, we almost canceled our dinner because we disliked it so much on the Allure. Luckily we didn’t. Our meal was fantastic! This time the filets were great quality and cooked perfectly. They had a sauce (can’t remember what they called it) that was a spicy bearnaise and was so good. My mother had the lobster and enjoyed it. Normally it would be an additional $21 charge, but it was included with star class. We also shared some sides. The tater tots were bland and lacked salt, the asparagus was great, and the mashed potatoes were nice and creamy. For dessert we shared the cheesecake and molten chocolate cake. Both were good. The cheesecake was just a tad too lemony.

 

After dinner we had the aqua show. On the Allure, my daughter made us watch it 2 1/2 times she loved it so much. This show was not nearly as good. It was not as entertaining and a lot of the show happened in the water which made it hard to see. It was still good, but didn’t compare to Allure. My mom and brother have been on the Harmony as say it’s water show was the best.

It is what is already being offered. She did however cut us in front of the line so there was no waiting. We also booked it the first day of the cruise instead of in advance.
