Happy Sunday!!! And we’re off!! Yesterday we spent the day hanging around the resort. I highly recommend the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress. We swam, did water sports on lake (pedal boat, kayak, stand up paddle board), and went out to eat. We have a car to return and plan on stopping and grabbing a few medications and odds and ends before heading on the ship at 12.

Star Class Boarding ::

We arrived at the pier rather early — before they opened the doors. At 9:45 Brian escorted us through security, then took all of our passports and set sail passes and led us to the second floor and directly to an agent to check us on and take our pictures. We were in the VIP check in area by 10:10. We have a party of eight , with six adults and 2 children.

At 10:40, Joyce, our genie, met us in the waiting area. At 10:50, after the B2B cruisers had boarded, we were escorted on, along with the party in stateroom 8730.

Luggage was in our suite and we were in it by 11:15!!!!! I did a room tour on periscope for those interested, userid = mcoretto.

Room is fantastic and plenty of room for everyone , of course the balcony is amazing. My guess is we will utilize the room more than we have on other cruises.

The door and room had a number of decorations in them, all arranged by Joyce. It is our 35th anniversary, my grandsons birthday, and I retired 3 weeks ago —- lots to celebrate.

We had lunch at Coastal Kitchen and muster at 3:45! More later

We arrived at the port at 11:30 and was quickly escorted by Brian through security and the lines. We then quickly met our genie Hannah and had our pictures taken. We never had to wait and were in our room before 12:00 along with our luggage. My daughter was very excited to see they had decorated the room for her birthday and provided a cake along with some other treats and champagne. The mini bar was stocked to our liking. We quickly unpacked and headed to Sabor for lunch. My brother and I were the only ones eating and ordered way too much food! We had the guacamole spicy, empanadas, bacon wrapped chicken jalapeños, and the short rib and pork tacos! All were very tasty. We are now enjoying the beautiful weather from our balcony waiting for the muster to start. We have reservations at Giovanni’s at 6:00 and the ice show at 8:30.

I'm somewhat concerned about this Star Class thingy. We usually book suites but it looks like this is such a cut above that my cost of cruising is going way up. Very much like when we booked our first suite after several balcony class cruises.

I feel your pain! We have our first Star Class schedule for November, and the next chance we had, we booked another Star Class suite. I agree- it’s going to be addictive in a good way :)

I too am afraid there is no coming back from this level of cruising [emoji45][emoji4]

There really isn’t. We were upgraded to star class in February and now next cruise we had to be star class again. My poor daughter is ruined. Haha. She has only been on two cruises and both were star class. My favorite part of star class is the room/balcony. I love the space. So much storage and you can lie in the sun on your own balcony.

We were Star Class 2 years on Oasis. It was hard thinking of just going back to a regular suite so we went ahead and booked Star Class for Sept and again in March. That will be 4 in a row. We have decided to find a ship with suites but no Star Class, should make it easier on the pocket book.

Thank you so much for the two for one Star class review. Looking forward to following along!

Noticed in fine print on the schedule that the genie put together that tapas and wine are included as Star class. It doesn’t explicitly state a dollar amount though. Assumption is that there is a max $$$ per glass that is included? Can you please confirm? Thanks again!

The dollar amount of the beverage package is 13.00. There are a few options available under that price.

Today was a great first day! After muster, we headed to the suite lounge and watched us sail off. After a bit, we arrived back to our room to find some afternoon snacks of chips and guacamole and fruit. I enjoyed some yummy pineapple while enjoying the sun on our balcony. The thing I love about 1720 are the views of both the sports deck and the ocean since it is a corner room.

At 5:50 we hurried off to dinner at Giovanni’s. On our way there we were stopped by one of the room stewards who wanted us to wait as she called our steward, Marva, to meet us. Both ladies were beyond kind and outgoing. In February I went to Giovanni’s twice and had amazing meals on the Allure. I ordered the filet and thought it was better than Chops and 150CP, but tonight, it was not very good. I ordered it medium rare and it came medium. It was also very hard to cut. I was a bit disappointed. Had I paid the cover price for the dinner, I would have been very upset as it wasn’t very good. My brother had the bolognese and carbonara and my mother had the shrimp. Both loved their meals. We finished off with their cannolis. They are tasty, but not great.

Dinner tonight was surprisingly fast compared to the last time we went. We were done in under an hour. While at dinner, our genie Hannah came to chat. She asked if my daughter would like to be in the ice show that evening. Of course we said yes and my daughter was beyond excited. We rushed back to the room to make herself pretty. Haha. The ice show was outstanding!! On the Allure, I did not enjoy the How to Tame your Dragon. It was short and boring. This show was an hour and was so cute and fun. My daughter got to ride around in a swan. Can’t wait for tomorrow!

With Marva you have one of the best, and they are all amazing on deck 17. We haven’t seen her for years, but we haven’t forgotten who she is.

The 1720 cabin “location” on Oasis Class has been our cruise home over the years, well before Star Class existed. We always booked it for the location and balcony when sailing for 2 or 3 when our son joined us. The new perks have made it even better.

I will continue to follow along and enjoy your cruise.

Totally agree that Marva is one of the best, if not the best. Have sailed with her over a dozen times. Most recently in #1720 April and #1718 June of this year.

Looking forward to seeing her this September. We will be in #1722.

If you get a chance tell her John and Sandy said "Hello".

Thank you.
