question about leaving ship on Embarkation day

Hello fellow cruisers. We are taking NCL Jewel out of Seward next year and 4 of us will be in Seward for a couple days prior. We want to get on the ship as soon as they allow embarkation. We also have friends arriving on sailing day via the train and this will be their first cruise. Rather than wait to embark myself, I wanted to leave the ship when they arrive and guide them thru the embarkation process. Is this ever done? I know I would have to be screened again potentially, as long as I have my ship card, there should not be an issue right? Thanks in advance. Julie

Unless your friends have accessibility issues, I would not have thought that they need any help with the embarkation process. That is what the staff are there for.

Just tell them to have their edocs, passport and card that they are linking to their account to hand and tell them that "it is a simple process".

They might want to adjust their lipstick before the photo is taken so that the security guys see them at their best.

Rather than wait to embark myself, confusing - presume you embark and get your luggage squared away

in your stateroom and then return to greet your arriving friends. You say they are arriving by train - should be

easy to coordinate this knowing the arrival time of the train which is very punctual. Only hang up is your

stateroom not being immediately available for stashing your carry on luggage.

YES you can do this - it is not a common process - but unless NCL is specifically stating it is not -

it is nice touch to escort your friends on board.

Make an inquiry about doing this before hand to avoid any issues

You would of course have to go thru Security again -

You would not have to fill out the health forms as you have already done that -

your friends would need to do that before checking in for their on board account and key cards.

You can stand off to the side or stay with your friends while they register.

Then generally you can go right on board unless NCL has zoned off the guests in some kind of boarding que.

Suites Platinums CAS handicap assist etc. If a large crowd arrives all at the same time this may happen.

Then board the ship and show them around Captain !

Timing you may be able to show them to their cabin and dump the carry-on luggage - then find a bite to eat

and have a bon voyage beverage.

It is not all that complicated - it is NCL !

Unless there is a change in timetable the train from Anchorage to Seward arrives at Seward at 11.05am. There is NO way that you will be on the ship before 11.05am. I would suggest that you pick up your friends from the train BEFORE you go to board.

Have you been to the Seward cruise terminal? It isn't much more than a steel warehouse, and not very big at that. We took the train down on the chartered excursion, we were checked in at the airport rail depot got our ship cards there. The train arrived in Seward at about 5:30 it took longer to walk from the train car to the building than it did to get on the ship, and that's only because we were in one of the last train cars.

If they are on the normal passenger run of the train, I'd hold off boarding and try to meet up and you all board together. It might be easier than trying to be a salmon swimming up stream with everyone trying to get on board, and you trying to get off. If they are on the charter keep in mind that the train arrives late, the ship was in the middle of the muster drill when we boarded. It will probably be easier to prearrange a place on board to meet up.

Generally there is a train from Anchorage to Seward for just ship passengers that arrives about 30 minutes prior to sail away. Check in is done on the train, keys cards are passed out, etc. For people on the train boarding is just like returning from port.
