erdoran Posted August 26, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2018 I know if I use my ship acct to buy gambling chips I pay 3%. How about it if I were to use it to pay tips to butler, concierge, etc—do I just get charged the dollar amount, or do I get stuck for the 3% because it is in a sense a cash equivalent? Thanks
tempus137 Posted August 26, 2018 #2 Share Posted August 26, 2018 I don't know if there is a charge for getting cash (cash may only be available at the casino), but you can go to guest services & use the voucher system. A charge is made to your account and you get a copy of the voucher that you can give to the recipient.
dexddd Posted August 26, 2018 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2018 No charge - just make sure you have their full name.

Rare graphicguy Posted August 26, 2018 #12 Share Posted August 26, 2018 You can use either. I know some have said you can use OBC to buy chips at the casino (for a 3% fee). Do you have to stipulate using the OBC at the cashier’s office (or customer service desk for tipping) vs them charging the cc they have on file? Or, will it be automatically taken from the OBC? They will automatically use it but you can tell them that you have some non refundable OBC that you want to make sure you use for Butler tips. Write down each persons exact name or take their card that you want to tip.
cb at sea Posted August 27, 2018 #14 Share Posted August 27, 2018 NO...there is no "fee" to tip extra. Just tell them how much and who you wish to give additional money to....
tempus137 Posted August 27, 2018 #15 Share Posted August 27, 2018 This is great news - I can tip out the butler with OBC. Another reason for buying a FCC. The OBC that you get for buying an FCC is actually a discount, because the full price of the FCC is charged to your account. So, if you have, let's say, $200 in OBC with no other charges, & buy 2 FCC's, you will be charged $500 and then credited $250. So your account will now show a balance that you owe of $50. You do not get any extra OBC for buying FCC. It only offsets part of the cost. In the same scenario, if you didn't have any OBC, you would owe $250. davesgirl51 Posted August 27, 2018 #16 Share Posted August 27, 2018 You cannot use a credit card on board for tips. You may use OBC which you got from NCL, your TA or which you have purchased before boarding which I do because then I will get miles.
