Behavior on Carnival ships ?

have you all noticed the Winchester Ranger rode into the sunset, so the thread is a mute point. Some good people, some bad people, some rude people, some polite, some drunk, some sober, the end

While Winchester Ranger may have gone mute, the point is moot.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself...

With over 3000 people on a cruise...... You will not please everyone.

I get an early seating to see the entertainment.... All the wanna bees, kids out of control, first timers and the uppity people. :'):'):'):')

"Uppity people" being those of us that don't like it when people spit on the decks?

My honest assessment? If you go during spring break you will have a large number of young drunks being loud and acting pretty disgusting. So I never go then. You will always have some adults that are drunk at stupid, and completely classless as well. But the one thing that has me on verge of leaving the only cruise line I have ever sailed is the out of control kids, the inattentive parents, and the complete failure of the ship's staff to hold either of them accountable.

With each and every cruise I have taken, the kids get worse, more out of control. At this point I have already seen people hurt.

This is where the super-parents will jump in and say "Oh I have seen plenty of drunk adults acting bad!" I'm sure you have. Congratulations. Go ahead and tell me that YOUR kids are perfectly well mannered, I get it. Your kids are not the ones I'm talking about then.

I'm telling you the truth. The kids are unattended, and running around in unchecked packs until the early morning hours. The go wherever they want, including every hot tub, bar and the serenity decks. They knock elderly people over and keep moving. They drink. They have sex in the covered lounges. One kid threw a glass bottle off the lido deck and down 10 decks into the atrium bar, narrowly missing a man's head. it could have killed him. While THAT family was removed from the ship, I have seen virtually NO action of any kind, on any other ships. When you report the behavior to the a crewmember, they just smile at you and say there is nothing they can do. The CD herself on the Carnival Legend refused to take action regarding kids that were leaping back and forth from the front row of seats to the stage DURING the show. Her actual response when made aware of this? "What do you want ME to do about it?"

Hope that answers your question Winchester Ranger;57056143. Go ahead and flame away super parents, I don't care.

Man I really need to spend more time people watching on a cruise, I'm missing all of this.

It can be humorous and disgusting at the same time... think of a small town that everyone moves out of in a week and new ones show up. Nobody knows anybody and really doesn't care to know anyone...

Some people will tell you they keep to themselves. They don't. I'll never understand why some people let themselves get so worked up on a vacation.

I think cruise line has a lot less to do with experience than departure port or time of the year. Miami and New York are great to cruise from but the people can be a bit more rude and pushy. Charleston SC, Tampa, New Orleans and Baltimore people tend to be a lot friendlier and deferential to others. Summer vs winter vs fall vs spring also bring completely different crowds. We love cruising out of Baltimore and New Orleans, passengers and crew always seem to be the best.

Totally agree on this point. My adult son is an amputee in a wheelchair but extremely independent and does not expect help or any special treatment. That being said on our recent Horizon cruise out of NYC his experiences were totally different than cruises out of Southern ports. We can't count the number of times people cut in front of him so he had no time to slow down and ended up running over someone's foot. People would not move even a bit to let him by. Strange experience since on most of his other cruises I was amazed at how gracious and helpful people were.

I don't know about that. I've had more friendly people on Carnival say howdy to me than on any other cruise line. Especially sailings from Texas. :)

Compared to Royal, for sure as a whole Carnival cruisers are easier to greet and talk to. 4 cruises on Royal but twice as many on CCL and this is one of 3 or 4 reasons why.

Our experience is that after many Carnival cruises the last being on Conquest where most of the guests were crude and very loud, although the ship itself and crew were very nice and food excellent. We then went onto two NCL cruises and one RCL, These were completely different experiences and a totally different clientele. These were very enjoyable cruises due to the difference in guests which did not display such crude behavior. It's too bad since Carnival does have a good product but the guests just seem raunchier for lack of better wording. Sadly I can't get my family back on a Carnival ship.

I have only been on 7 Carnival cruises and have never seen anything out of the ordinary...just a handful people that might have had too much to drink, but so what.

I will say we were on the Triumph in 2015 out of Galveston, and it seemed like all the people on that ship were nice and friendly. Must be a Texas thing LOL.

It is. :D We do our best to make friends with the staff and the CD no matter what ship we're on and they all tell us they want to be assigned to the ships going out of Galveston.

How so? Admittedly, meeting people is not a priority for us on vacation but when I greet someone in an elevator, or sitting at an adjacent table they always speak back. This is exactly the same on any cruise I've ever taken.

 I'm not sure what they're basing their preference on, nor have I ever sailed out of New York. However, the conduct of the passengers on our one-and-only departure from Galveston was the absolute worst we've ever seen.

So why are you on a Carnival board?

That's a complicated question. Both Yes & No IMO. Ive been on 8 cruises and ive noticed differences on each cruise. I think a lot of it has to do with the timing of the cruise, length of the cruise, the ship, destinations etc. If you go during spring break out of Miami it may be different than if you went in late Sept to Bermuda. For instance, if you are the type of person who doesn't like partying I would not go on a short cruise out of Orlando, the one time we did a weekend cruise on the Liberty I would say the majority of the ship was bachelor/ bachelorette parties & also most of the ship seemed to be in the 21-35 age range so that may be one that would get the "bad rep". We loved it but some may not.

Personally, my least favorite cruise was when we went on the Vista out of NYC on her first USA cruise. It was the only time that I let the other passengers on the ship get it to me and it took until day 10 out of 12 to break me down but after over a week of dealing with a ship that was filled with mostly New Yorkers and a huge amount of diamond/platinum cruises (I'm gonna leave that one alone) I wanted to get off the ship immediately which is the only time that's ever happened. On the flipside we went to Canada/NE in Sept (also out of NYC) on the Sunshine and we were one of the younger couples on the cruise and we had zero complaints. Every cruise is different :) So I would say as a company, NO they do not deserve a bad rep but that's not to say you may not run into problems :)

Such a Troll question from a Troll

If he hasn't been on Carnival in awhile I can 100% see why that is a legit question. When people ask me about cruising who haven't been before and I bring up that I only go on Carnival, I'd say at least half say something like "I've heard bad things about them". May not be accurate but its public perception.

One of the best cruises we ever had was back on Miracle when she was brand new and sailing out of Baltimore (yes Baltimore) but we have been hesitant to go back to Carnival following all the reports and videos of bad behavior on the ships.

I’d be grateful for an honest assessment from recent cruisers - does Carnival deserve its new reputation ?

I gave up on CCL for a few years, then went back to them in April. Had a blast. Was really surprised how few kids and young people were on the Splendor. Maybe it's the itinerary but there were a lot of older people. We aren't partiers so it was fine for us. Or maybe we're just getting old too. LOL.

.

Just call it 'atmosphere' if you want. Cruising with thousands of people including crew means that we are immersed in a crowded 'atmophere' of people that is affected by both how the crew are instructed to relate with passengers as well as the general expectations of passengers. Maybe I could even suggest group dynamics or something on that line....but both DH and I usually feel a little more comfy and outgoing with fellow passengers and crew on Carnival than on Royal.

Cruise shorter trips, or in the summer, or during holidays, and you will experience a much livelier ship!

But just like a neighborhood, there are always bad apples, pigs, brainless inconsiderate jacka$$es, and they aren't limited to any particular cruise line!

I can only comment on cruises out of Galveston during the summer. But from what I see is a lot more families with younger kids. Less singles and partiers. On the Magic in July, hallways, clubs were empty by 11 except for a few dozen people in the casino. Most passengers headed back to their cabins to put the young ones to bed. We are talking about the same families and kids as you would see at a character breakfast in Disneyworld

I just got off Pride yesterday...my 28th cruise since 1992.

Five different lines...RCL,CCL, NCL, MSC and Celebrity.

I've seen bad (rude) behavior on every single cruise over the years from kids throwing ice cream cones in the pools to adult fist fights on the pool decks...Dirty diapers being thrown overboard, dishes with food left in elevators, naked people sleeping in the corridor...lol

It's not the line, it's the people!

Enough said...:)
