Captain k Posted October 2, 2018 #26 Share Posted October 2, 2018 Previous previous posts stated that the Royal was to receive the new beds during the "wet dock" in December. Wishful thinking I suppose?
Wishing on a star Posted October 2, 2018 #27 Share Posted October 2, 2018 I do not know about the wet-dock, where and when and for how long this updating and refreshing might last, but I would have a bit of hope that they might finally at least begin to replace the bedding, as this would be a convenient opportunity. missymerv Posted October 2, 2018 #29 Share Posted October 2, 2018 Would anyone know if you can request firmer pillows onboard? DH finds the pillows way too soft. Since we have to fly down to the port buying some and bringing onboard is a little difficult. TIA
lolane1 Posted October 2, 2018 #30 Share Posted October 2, 2018 lolane, is the luxury bed that you have still available?Info please! I don’t know. The company I bought it from went out of business a few years ago. But, I do remember it was a major manufacturer. I took the word of salesman that it was the mattress sold at the hotel. It sure felt like It, and cost like it. But it has absolutely worked out perfectly. It’s hugely deep, weighs a ton and I need extra deep sheets to fit it. But man, I am a happy camper. ronmar22 Posted October 2, 2018 #31 Share Posted October 2, 2018 I know that this question has been asked before, however, I have not found an answer. What type of pillows does Princess use, foam, feather or other? Also, is it possible to request feather if they do not normally use them?
Colo Cruiser Posted October 2, 2018 #32 Share Posted October 2, 2018 Even after the new mattress's are on all ships mattress replacement in general remains an ongoing never ending process.

luckyinpa Posted October 2, 2018 #34 Share Posted October 2, 2018 regarding regal would priority possibly mean like in the next 4 weeks :)
Wishing on a star Posted October 2, 2018 #35 Share Posted October 2, 2018 Not sure what you mean by 'priority'. I have never read of any 'priority' regarding bringing on the new mattresses. And, I really do not know, or care, about the frequency that they supposedly switch out their mattresses. First, we are talking about the new and completely different and better mattresses. Second, the Princess history of old, broken down, and clearly way-past-due for replacement. mattresses is well known.

bobby3334 Posted October 3, 2018 #37 Share Posted October 3, 2018 Priority doesn’t quite mean what it does on ships as usual elsewhere since almost everyone has for example priority boarding discussed elsewhere in regard to boarding. Eaglecw Posted October 3, 2018 #41 Share Posted October 3, 2018 We just came off the Ruby on Saturday, cabin B750. We had the worse bed I've ever slept on, terrible, woke up many times in the night hurting. They came in a changed out the frame that didn't do anything. I thought about putting the bedding on floor and sleep on the floor. There's no way I would buy one of those beds, terrible.
robbi5 Posted October 3, 2018 #42 Share Posted October 3, 2018 I just got off the Grand and they had the new mattresses. Loved it. Best sleep ever on a cruise ship.
luckyinpa Posted October 3, 2018 #43 Share Posted October 3, 2018 I wonder which thread will be longer, the mattress thread or the bad princess pizza thread. both are very subjective and there is no standard for either.
trophy_23 Posted October 3, 2018 #44 Share Posted October 3, 2018 Last year around this time we did a pacific coastal on the Star and the bed was the worst I’d ever slept on at sea. Once we got to LA they replaced them all (whole ship) and then it was the most comfy bed I’d slept on for the rest of our trip. Just back from the Island last week and that too was a very comfy bed!
