Navigator of the Seas *LIVE* 11/23/2018 - 12/2/2018

Recommended Posts

Don’t think they know what they are doing at this terminal. Nothing but a mess.

Photo machine not working and making us all wear wristbands.

Lines are everywhere and they are forcing everyone to sit down. We were in front of line and now we are siting way in back.

Not very orderly!

We are here!!!

Unfortunately, Miami is fairly low in port efficiency.  This is our door to ship time.  This is including the Diamond priority.

Also, this is the internet speed we will be dealing with.  Its not good, but average for cruises.

Tonight, we tried Sabor for the first time.  We found the 3 night dining on sale for 60/person so we got to try it.

We were not impressed.

here is the menu

Now, they immediately asked how you want the guacamole.  Mild, Medium or Spicy.  Medium was plenty spicy.  However, the guac felt like super market guac.  It was too smooth and had a slightly off flavor.

Appetizers was probably the best part of this meal.

Calamari, Chicken stuffed jalapeno and ceviche.

Main course was make your own Tacos.  We  misread that somehow and thought there was 1 taco each.  We were wrong.  EACH of those could have made 3 or 4 Tacos at the very least.

Dessert, the waiter didn’t even ask.  He just brought them all.

The best was the cafe con leche on the top right.  It was a coffee like soufle’. Avoid the banana and chocolate chimichanga on the bottom right, it was vile.

Sabor beats out Izumi’s as worst specialty restaurant for us.  Izumi’s we just thought was mediocre for the price.  But we would do Izumi’s in a heartbeat if offered.

After dinner, we ended up in the whirlpool.  However, its been a long day and I think we’re done.

We had our first ever specialty restaurant dinner this evening, having taken advantage of a bogo offer in the cruise planner. Tonight was in Chops and it was very good, despite the looooong wait between the appetiser and the main course. The waiter thanked us for our patience.

We both had the wild mushroom soup, which was delicious, but I'm afraid that it was history by the time I remembered I was supposed to be taking a pic. :classic_blush:

Then we shared a pork belly appetiser, which was nice enough and tender, but not really as tasty as when I make it at home.

The jumbo shrimp were really good and we accompanied them with mushrooms and asparagus.

DH passed on dessert but I didn't. I was a bit disappointed there was no red velvet cake as I have heard it is really good. However, the warm chocolate cake was wonderful, all gooey and sticky and very chocolaty. Yum! :classic_biggrin:

We had espressos to finish, which were a free emerald benefit.

Was the menu for Sabor that you posted the entire menu?  On the Freedom last year they had several other items, this menu seems very basic.  I remember it had a few main dishes and some other appetizers.  My husband will be disappointed he loves Sabor

Unfortunately so.  Also, the waiter said that Sabor is being discontinued for this ship.  After drydock, it will become a seafood venue.

Don’t worry.  I’ve been taking pictures of food a lot longer than I’ve been doing live thread.  Plus, I will be at Chops later too so we got this thread covered.

  • Thanks 1

Thanks for the reply.  We got the ultimate dining package, hope we don't get bored, ha ha.  That is sad about Sabor, but I guess they go with what is popular.  I happen to love seafood but my husband will be sad.  Thanks for the updates, we cruise on Dec 21, can't wait

I know 2 years ago, I won a bottle of champagn at the meet and mingle.  But now, I don’t even remember seeing it as a prize any more.

Not that it matters to me.  I don’t drink much.

Much more to come
