Navigator of the Seas *LIVE* 11/23/2018 - 12/2/2018

Recommended Posts

Back on board, I did my first treadmill session of the cruise and was pleasantly surprised to find that the treadmill was programmed in kilometres rather than miles. They probably just haven't got round to switching all the treadmills over to miles after the season in Europe but it was great for me as I was able to do my session without having to convert between miles and kilometres.

The treadmills are programmed to switch to 5-minute cool down after 60 minutes of activity.

After two nights of specialty dining, tonight was our first dinner in the MDR. Our table is an 8-top but only one other couple came tonight.

I finally managed to take a pic of a menu!

For starters, I had the tacos and Fernando had the salmon. We both had the tiger shrimp for mains. And for dessert Fernando had the cheesecake, which he demolished before I had time to get a pic, and I had the brownie off the kids' menu.

The tacos were a bit too sweet for me but otherwise everything was very good and tasty.

Ugh, dinner did not agree with me. I might have gotten food poisoning.  I’m just laying in bed right now.  So if I’m a little quiet today, thats why.  Just very tired and nauseous.

That's grim, get better soon and drinks lots of water.

Here are a couple. If there's a particular brand you're interested in just say and I will see if I can spot it for you.

Magnificent! Thank you!!!!

If there's any Highland Park floating around I'd be curious on the cost.

As recommend by many posters here on CC, we took the tram all the way to Columbus Cove. It was very pretty and the water was nice and warm. We enlisted the help of another guest to get a pic of both of us with the ship in the background.

Columbus Cove:

Amazing! You guys are making the wait for the next 11 days pre-cruise even better!!

Did the tram stop at the market for long, and was the vendor activity confined to the market? I've heard stories about having to run the gauntlet around that area.

(also, nothing more frustrating than trying to program 3.10 miles into a machine while thinking "IT'S 5K EVEN YOU STUPID ELECTRONIC DEVICE :classic_biggrin:

Good morning.

Here is todays cruise compass.

Apparently we lost an hour.  Me, i lost a day.  This is something i’ve never said on a cruise.  I haven’t eaten anything in 36 hours.  I could not leave the room.  I tried at around dinner because we had reservations and Chops, but no dice.  Between dinner on day 2 and this morning.  But we managed to make it to breakfast finally.  I’m mobile barely, but better thab yeaterday.  This sucker kicked the crap out of me.

I caught the breakfast menu.  It usually doesn’t change.

I noticed that they are offering Buffets at breakfast at the MDR too.  Is this new or just on the bigger ships.  My last 4 cruises were on the Grandeur.  I don’t remember them doing it on the Anthem this way.  I managed to keep down a bowl of oatmeal.  Still feeling wiped, but at least I’m mobile.

I'll have a look for it.

The tram stopped only long enough to let folks get off.

At the artisans market, where the tram stops, the prices are fixed and you don't get hassled.

The artisans village are where the aggressive vendors are and you can avoid them by staying on the tram till it reaches Columbus Cove or, on foot, by walking along the beach and underneath the water slide.

We had buffet breakfast in the MDR last year on Serenade and the year before on Harmony.

Do they change time on the ship to Atlantic Time?  I thought they stayed on East coast time?

Chrome is giving me issues now.  The forum keeps loading over and over.  I switched back to Safari.

So adventures of sick me.  I made it up to the diamond lounge after breakfast, and gave up.  It took all my energy to do that, then returned back to my room.

The good part is that the pain in my back when away. I suspected that came from lying in this bed for so long. I had the room Stewart give me one of those mattress toppers.  A combination of no pain and a more comfortable mattress allowed me to get better rested.  I should be good for dinner tonight.

I was pondering what to do about our first excursion tomorrow.  We planned to do the helmet dive at la Palm Island, But apparently the park is closed. I wasn’t sure if I was up for it but I guess fate Decided for me. Now we don’t have any plans tomorrow.

Tonight is also the 70s party.  I usually enjoy it, but in my state at the moment, i’m not sure if i can make it.

Until next time

Had that same issue on my phone today (only cruise critic site of course).  So something was up.

Really enjoying your review.  We're booked on Navigator in the summer.

I couldn't see any Highland Park, so I asked and I'm afraid they don't have it. :classic_sad:

There was plenty of action around the pool today with the men's belly flop competition.

During the afternoon there were two performances of the ice skating show,  one at 3 pm and one at 5 pm. We went to the later one and really enjoyed it. Entry was on a first come first served basis, no tickets required. There are to be two more performances later on in the cruise.

We missed the headliner show, which was a tribute band of some sort, because the late seating show time was 7 pm, which meant I had to choose between that and my workout in the gym. No contest.

For any other fitness freaks that might be reading this, you can get Powerade in the Café Promenade. Same price as soda, $3.50 + gratuity.

I made it to giovanni’s.

We ordered the tuna appetizer, pork belly and buffalo mozzarella.  not pictured because we tore into it. For main course, Kat got the Ossobucu and I got the filet.  There was also the side of seafood linguine.

Amazing food here.  It’s unfortunate that I couldn’t eat very much, but at least enjoyed my first meal since I got sick.

When I got back to the room we were met with this guy.

A bit of good news. It turns out that I misread the notice we received.  Turns out that the waterpark at La Palme is closed but all other activities are still a go.  So the helmet dive is a go.  So I’m going to get as much rest as possible so I can enjoy this.

For starters I had the arugula and radicchio salad, which was ok. The prosciutto was crispy, which it should never be and I'm not a big fan of sweet and savoury together, so I could have done without the pomegranate. Fernando had the roasted poblano pepper soup, which he said was flavourful but a bit too spicy for his liking.

For mains I had the Moroccan spiced tuna, which I really liked. You have to have it cooked medium rare though, or it would be too dry, so it might not be everybody's cup of tea. Fernando had the beef short rib and hated it. It was nearly all fat. Our waiter offered to bring him something else and he asked for the mushroom risotto, which was more to his liking, although he said the rice was a bit overcooked and that it wasn't as good as Giovanni's mushroom risotto.

For dessert, I had the warm dark chocolate cookie and it was amazing. Chocolaty, crispy on the outside, warm and gooey on the inside. Yum! And Fernando had the apple pie, which he said wasn't bad but nowhere near as good as last night's cheesecake.

Breakfast in the MDR is an altogether much more civilised affair. We opted for the buffet and although obviously much smaller than the WJ it has everything we need.

Today we are in Aruba. We were here last year on our Serenade and an island tour so this time we are just going to get a cab to the beach and then some shopping in town in the afternoon. This is a long port stop as we don't leave till midnight.
