Tall-Cruiser Posted December 30, 2018 #26 Share Posted December 30, 2018 Date of Cruise: December 16, 2018 Ship: Edge Cabin #: 9174 Deck #: 9 Cabin Category: S2 Cabin Location: Mid-ship / Starboard Bed Position: Facing ocean Balcony Type: Regular (all glass no pole), Fire-wall on right side and all steel. Balcony/Window Size: 75-79sft Balcony/Window View/Obstruction: None really (aft view obstructed due to S3s) Balcony Overhang?: No Magic Carpet Issues?: No Noise Issues?: No Wind Issues?: No Connecting Cabin? Where Does it Connect?: No Suite Details: Very nice S2 cabin located mid-ship and closer to forward elevator. The bed faces the ocean, sofa was a full size that opens up into a bed (not a chase type). The living area also came with a rocking chair and another chair near the full length mirror. Lots of drawers for storage. Closet space was adequate but not as big as the Junior Suite closets on the Voyager, Freedom and Oasis Class ships. The bathroom was very nice with a shower that faced the Ocean upon opening a mirror above the dual sink. The toilet was in its own water closet. The balcony original setup has two chairs and a small table. I later and on occasion took the Kelly Hopkin rocker out to the balcony. See photos below. Advantages/Problems/Comments: This Suite IMO had a great location being mid-ship and not too high up minimizing motion. The other advantage is the balcony. Since this cabin had a fire wall on one side, the right side of the balcony partition was all steel and therefore provided more privacy and quiet on that side. Also due to its location, it did not have a pole in the middle of the balcony. (Remember, that for ever four Sky Suites on Port or Starboard sides, the two cabins on the end don't have a pole, but the two in the middle do). As to disadvantages it depends. You do not have a view of the aft. Your aft view is obstructed by the S3s along the MC side. We chose this cabin because we wanted to see the MC in operation and thus we didn't see a disadvantage. The cabin/balcony is also well positioned to watch docking, leaving port and the tender process when in a tender port. The forward view from the balcony is great and you can see the bridge from it. The one thing that this suite needs, given the balcony size and price of the suite is a comfortable lounger or at minimum, chairs that recline and a large table to enjoy room service meal. Would You Book It Again?: Yes (when the pricing comes down ☺️) Photos or Photo Links: S2 9174 Starboard 1

Suite Details: Nice suite, though storage space is limited for longer cruises. Very nice spacious bathroom with plenty of storage space and wonderful make up mirror! We had no problems with water spilling onto the floor when showering. Advantages/Problems/Comments: The verandah is huge and should have regular outdoor furniture on it to be able to sit outside and enjoy breakfast, or just to lounge on and relax. The current furniture is NOT conducive to that. The Kelly Hoppen rocker takes up valuable floor space and should be removed and replaced with a decent coffee table. Would You Book It Again?: Already have. We booked the same suite directly above on deck 12. We are hoping that X is paying attention and that the situation with the verandah furniture will be resolved before our next sailing. I would definitely call it an obstructed view though as the magic carpet was on 14 when we pulled in to ports when you want good view and pictures. ZMariner Posted February 10, 2019 #48 Share Posted February 10, 2019 Date of Cruise: January 20, 2019 Ship: Edge Cabin #: 11235 Deck #: 11 Cabin Category: Concierge Class (C3) Cabin Location: Port Aft Bed Position: Bed near Bathroom Balcony Type: Infinite Verandah Balcony/Window Size: Standard Balcony/Window View/Obstruction: No Balcony Overhang?: Some overhang above Deck 12 Magic Carpet Issues?: No Noise Issues?: The area near the IV creaks. Wind Issues?: No Connecting Cabin? Where Does it Connect?: Yes. Connecting door is near entrance, across from the bathroom entrance. Connects to the Concierge Class cabin 11233 Suite Details: Stateroom - Concierge on Deck 11 Extra space and better overall configuration of the room as compared to the same category on a “S” or “M” Class ship. There was abundant storage for a 7 day cruise though I think the closets might be a bit small for a longer itinerary. Drawers and cupboards were plentiful and more than met our needs. There is a pillar table/stool combo with the storage inside. There is tray/table combo that is cleaver and useful. There is a large wall mounted TV across from the bed The electric console is near the vanity for easy use of hairdryer and styling tools as well as charging electronic devices. There are additional outlets on the right side of the bed. One note - It wasn’t until late on the last night of the cruise that I realized the switch for the vanity light was on the side of the electric console. It was nice to be able to slide the vanity top into the dresser for additional space. Stateroom Bathroom This is by far the biggest win for the Edge Class design. Loved the size and configuration. The shower size and shape functioned well. As did the high enclosure (keeps in the heat and moisture) and use of a solid door instead of a curtain. The shape also made it easy to adjust the water temperature from inside the enclosure without freezing or scalding oneself. There is a foot bar in the shower. Similarly, there is a “bench shelf” under the towel bar that can be used as a foot rest. There is an in-bathroom electric outlet which can be used for a shaver or electric toothbrush, but not a hairdryer. The material, size and shape of the soap tray made it easy to move between the countertop and the shower. The C.O. Bigelow shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion were all very nice but the pumps did not function properly and needed to be removed in order to access the contents. Advantages/Problems/Comments: Infinite Veranda The Infinite Verandais a beautiful floor to ceiling double hung window. However, It is not a balcony. The space feels more enclosed than a traditional balcony. You don’t get the breeze you would on a traditional balcony. In one week, there were at least six occasions where either the window was remotely closed while we were using the space or we were prevented from opening due to lockdown. I assume this is done due to concerns regarding damage to the stateroom during inclement weather or exterior cleaning but the conditions during which this occurred were overly cautious and they were conditions under which we would have been comfortable sitting on a traditional balcony. Perhaps a fix is to allow the window to be open if the french doors are fully closed but this is not currently the case. Additionally, the fixed back chairs, do not allow a lounge-like recline. It would also be nice to have at least one footstool. Regarding the window shade. The fact that it comes down from the ceiling necessitates that it be closed fully for privacy but that makes the cabin extremely dark. It’s not quite blackout but is very opaque. Would You Book It Again?: No. Due to the lack of control of the infinite verandah. This is a great cabin for someone who doesn’t care about utilizing a balcony.
