You stated that the "cost to upgrade to JS was $150pp" which would have been $300. However, in the next sentence you stated that you upgraded for $180 TOTAL which implies that, somehow, you were able to "self" upgrade for less than the minimum. Not certain how that happens but regardless your is really helpful considering the minimum of $300 ($150pp) + the $800 ($400pp) for the total upgrade costs from the OV balcony to the CL for a total costs of $1,100 (or less) seems like a bargain. Wish something like that had been available on our cruise. Edited May 11, 2019 by ndabunka

It's always a good idea to check the prices before bidding in case you can upgrade yourself rather than use the RoyalUp program. There have been a couple of cases on here where people could have paid for their own upgrade for less than the bidding process but they did not check and ended up paying more and not having control of their location

We have done similar prior to the upgrade program. However, it seems that information is now getting harder and harder to find so we have used AAA for our last 2 cruises rather than doing it ourselves. Maybe we are just getting old & lazy. RoperDK Posted May 11, 2019 #2256 Share Posted May 11, 2019 Just trying to confirm suite benefits with the Royal Up program. You receive all of the class benefits associated with your cabin type (sea, sky, star) except the double crown and anchor points, correct? I assume that if you originally start out in sea class (JS) you still receive the double points. I don't want to incorrectly factor in the cost of the drink package, gratuities, and specialty dining if I get the chance to go star class. We are in a CLS (Sky) and bid on an ATS 2 bed (Star). If we were to win we would get all the star perks
texastennis Posted May 12, 2019 #2258 Share Posted May 12, 2019 Another update. Still no word from RC about my bid for the oceanview or the junior suite aboard the Enchantment of the Seas on Monday, May 13. Expecting the 6:00 p.m. rejection tomorrow, (but still hoping). Background: I received an invitation to bid around the first of April. Currently, we are in an oceanview and was given the option to bid on a balcony and/or suite. The minimum bid on the balcony was $75 and on the suite the minimum was $150. Since I am happy with our current cabin, I decided to take the "it can't hurt, let's see what happens" attitude and bid just slightly above the minimum, yet still considered in the "weak" category. Also, given the cost of the balconies and suites my bids would be considered pretty nice deals (for me), and probably not worth accepting for RC. As of today, all of the balconies and suites for my cruise are showing "sold out." They have been for a little while, so I'm not sure if that really means anything. I've gone on other cruise booking sites and have seen that a few cabins in these categories are still available. I am expecting to receive the rejection email from RC any day now and will be absolutely fine with that. However, if either of my bids are accepted I'll be thrilled! I'll come back here to let you know what happens on Saturday which will be the 48 hour mark. Stay tuned! Just officially received the email from RC stating that my bid offer had not been accepted. Ah, well! Happy to be sailing no matter what!

One of the issues with Majesty is that there are no balcony staterooms lower in category than a JS. Tends to be expensive.

CasinoCruzGirl Posted May 13, 2019 #2265 Share Posted May 13, 2019 Looks like our May 26th cruise is just about full. The suite we are bidding on has completely disappeared from all sites, I.e. RCI, Priceline, Expedia, etc. I have been tracking it and today all gone poof lol. I’ll be happy with my CLS regardless but was fun dreaming of the 2 bedroom ATS.
Rare Lionesss Posted May 13, 2019 #2266 Share Posted May 13, 2019 For our recent Allure May 5th sailing we had the opportunity to bid on an aquatheatre suite and the Royal suite, we got the rejection e mail Saturday the evening before we sailed. Interesting though, on the cruise in the casino, for every 50 points you got on the slot machine, you were automatically given a chance for an upgrade raffle for the aquatheatre suite. The raffle was held on Wednesday, and a man claimed the prize. So, is this the new gimmick. Before I remember suites being won at bingo.............now the casino. Thought it was different. Sea Ya That is very interesting. Never heard of that one before and I am in the casino a lot! So I am wondering if RC has a certain bid in mind, and if they do not get that amount, they would rather sail with an empty suite or raffle it off? That just sounds like a weird business move!

By then it is too late to Royal someone Up so they probably just made the best of it and gave it away as a "prize". I realize that, in the past, they would simply upgrade someone at the pier but it seems as if those days are long gone and they don't want to upgrade anyone in that manner anymore. I will admit though....it is very bizarre.

I was able to cancel our 2 adult drink pkgs, 2 kids refreshment pkgs, and our BOGO Dinner. We had the option to bid on the ATS 1 bedroom starting at $100 pp or 2 bedroom starting at $400 pp or Star Loft starting at $800 pp. we did not bid on the 1 bed ATS because there are 4 of us and we would be giving up a bathroom so didn’t make sense and didn’t bid on the Star loft seemed to expensive so just bid on the ATS 2 bedroom.
