I have an upcoming sailing on the Harmony in a CLS. I was curious on he possible bidding. The "strong bid" is a bit high. The minimum or slightly over for the Aqua 2 would be the only one I would bid on. $1000 or $1200 ($200 over the minimum) is about the cost of 2 drink packages, gratuities and UDP. I don't see the of value in the SL or VS for the price.

ndabunka Posted May 28, 2019 #2379 Share Posted May 28, 2019 (edited) Has anyone here gotten TWO Royal Ups? We are on the June 16th Harmony in a 12th floor balcony ocean view. Not really that interested in the Royal Up offers as we only have JS, GS & OS options. We understand that some in JS & above have received Royal Up offers for AquaSuite so even though we aren't terribly interested in the JS category, the "starting"/weak bid is only $600 more for the 3 of us. Only real interest in upgrading would be if there was a chance for a secondary upgrade to an AquaSuite afterwards. I know that Royal sometimes doesn't inform on royal ups until the day before departure but others are upgraded weeks in advance so this question is more directed to those who got a 1st Royal up... Any chance you got a second 2nd royal up to move into a CLS or AS? Before anyone asks, the price for self-upgrading would be a LOT more as we already are using a number of discounts plus a credit Royal gave us do to some complications with a prior cruise so we are essentially already cruising in a high floor balcony for the price of a low-floor inside stateroom on this particular cruise. I guess we could also simply call our TA and see if she could do something to work us towards an AS (if any of them are even still available). Is Coastal Kitchen worth the attempt? Keep in mind that my wife prefers buffets rather than exclusive options. When we were in the grand suite I would visit Chops for breakfast but she and the teenager would go to the buffet instead. A bit different than the scenario I described but still relevant. I will keep that in mind in the event we can self-upgrade.

disneyfan1313 Posted May 29, 2019 #2385 Share Posted May 29, 2019 I am sailing on the May 31st Ovation 7 day Alaskan cruise and my bid got accepted for an upgrade today! I originally had an inside stateroom and I bid the minimum for outside, obstructed balcony and balcony (not for superior balcony). My bid for obstructed balcony was accepted at $200pp, $400 total. For an Alaskan cruise where the balcony rate was *significantly* more than an inside at booking, I am happy with this upgrade at that price. 2

reeb4 Posted May 30, 2019 #2387 Share Posted May 30, 2019 Just curious...is a JS upgrade from Oceanview Balcony THAT noticeable? Asking from ignorance, because we haven't yet had a JS. Just wondering if it is worth spending the money for it. It's not that much more, but what does one get? Sorry if this should be in another thread. Seems more like a tyoical hotel room.

Island_Chica Posted May 30, 2019 #2390 Share Posted May 30, 2019 I received notification last night that our RoyalUp bid was accepted. We're 24 days from sailing as of today and booked a suite guarantee for 4 passengers (parents + 2 kids) on Harmony OTS. We were assigned a GS on Deck 7 last weekend and got our RoyalUp email a couple of days later. All 4 person suites for our sailing are showing as sold out, but I had 5 choices for RoyalUp bids - an OS, CLS, Aqua 1-bed, Aqua 2-bed and Star Loft Suite. I bid on only two categories - the OS and the Aqua 2-bedroom. The starting bid for Aqua 1-bed was too high, I don't care for the CLS balconies and the Star Loft Suite starting bid was very high for us. Anyway, I received an email last night that our RoyalUp bid was accepted for the Owner's Suite - we got one on Deck 14 port side (just below pool deck so noise is a slight concern, but we're pretty heavy sleepers). I bid $20 above the starting bid of $400 (so $840 total for the upgrade from GS to OS for 4 people; $210 pp); as we started with a great guarantee rate we ended up in an OS for what it would have cost to put all four of us in one balcony cabin (we booked late). I was surprised our bid was accepted this early; seems like most ppl don't hear until shortly before sailing. Then again, I haven't read all 96 pages of this thread so I may be wrong about that. Good luck to the bidders still waiting!

I am currently in a GS on NAV for a B2B from Jun 28 - Jul 5. There are currently LOTS of GS still available (the prices are outrageous for a 3 and 4 night sailing) on both of these sailings. We have an offer in for a RU on OS for both of those sailings but I fear that they will not be interested in upgrading me b/cc they can't even sell the GS they still have - there seems to be no market at all for the GS on these 2 cruises ! There are still 2 OS left (the same two on both cruises) and have been for weeks. All of the inside rooms are sold out but the suites are just languishing. Truly, I would not pay what they are asking for the full suites either. We got ours on cheap casino cruise comps so we didn't pay much for them but the regular prices are really steep. No surprise that they aren't selling.

First one, 4 night we were in a GS and bid on an OS and the Royal Suite and we got the Royal Suite for a little over $700 total bid. That might be too much but we really enjoyed it and had a lot of friends in for parties etc. The other 3 nite leg we were in a JS and Bid for an OS and GS and we got the GS for I think $300 total bid. We are on the Adventure on June 8 and 14 and had royal up bids for both including for the Royal Suite but it's 14 nights and I'm not changing cabins with all the stuff I'm taking along. goodml Posted May 30, 2019 #2398 Share Posted May 30, 2019 As expected, at 7:04 pm today we got the emails that all of our bids were unsuccessful for tomorrow’s Navigator sailing. We’re in a deck 8 aft balcony and I bid $55 over minimum for a grand suite and same amount over minimum for 2 bedroom grand. I actually didn’t think I had bid on the Jr Suite but I bid minimum on that one. Anyway no luck this time. Saving my $$ 🙂
