AspirationalFlyer Posted December 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2018 (edited) What are your favourite activities onboard a Cunard cruise? I’ve really enjoyed the cocktail classes onboard both QV and QM2. For those that haven’t had the chance to try yet the classes yet I thought I’d wet your appetite (excuse the pun!) with a few pictures. These were taken onboard QM2 in May 2018. I hope these are of interest. Edited December 21, 2018 by AspirationalFlyer

Bigmike911 Posted December 22, 2018 #3 Share Posted December 22, 2018 A blow torch, whoa that's way to advanced for me. I can do ice in glass, add Johnny Walker Black to taste.
cruiseluvva Posted December 22, 2018 #4 Share Posted December 22, 2018 In all our Cunard trips, or any other line for that matter, we have never made the cocktail making class. Note to self: must do better! It looks fun.
Host Hattie Posted December 22, 2018 #5 Share Posted December 22, 2018 That looks amazing, why have I never done it ???
AspirationalFlyer Posted December 22, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted December 22, 2018 (edited) Haha. You should try it Hattie! From recollection, it is not too expensive either! Will try and dig out my photos from when I did it in September 2017 on QV by way if comparison. AspirationalFlyer Posted December 22, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted December 22, 2018 Sorry! This is the only photo I took when I did it on QV. I was clearly less snap happy!

BklynBoy8 Posted December 22, 2018 #9 Share Posted December 22, 2018 Ditto Older Sister Looks like educational and fun to learn new drinks and tips from professional mixologists. I have to research this on our next sailing and hope it is available and offered..

Can’t remember exactly but quite affordable. It was less than $50 for sure. That said, it was more on QM2 than QV.
2Oldpeopleinlove Posted December 22, 2018 #12 Share Posted December 22, 2018 Sounds great! We're on QM2 next December for a round trip TA. I'm adding this to our planning along with a couple of 6-day spa passes.

Stella1250 Posted December 23, 2018 #14 Share Posted December 23, 2018 Wow, that sure sounds like my kind of class! The only question I have is who carries you back to the cabin? LOL

And I’m sure not particularly coherent either! There is a quiz at the end (prize is to pick a drink that the professionals have made during the class) so do make sure you pay attention! The picture in the window above is with my prize!!
Aspidestra99 Posted December 27, 2018 #16 Share Posted December 27, 2018 I attended a Martini mixology class on QE this year. The cost was $30 plus 15% and worth every cent. Informative and fun with a capital F. It was my birthday and I was given an extra espresso martini, my favourite cocktail, in addition to the lucky dip cocktail plus the generous sample cocktails we garnished. Brought a whole new meaning to a Happy Birthday. Fortunately my husband was also in the Commodore club but not in the class so was there to steer me back to our stateroom. We were quite a small group with a fab tutor from the bar staff and we all enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend it.
majortom10 Posted December 27, 2018 #17 Share Posted December 27, 2018 If my memory serves me right I think the Cocktail Class was $50 approx per person in Oct/Nov and was held in Commodore Club one afternoon.
Rare 57eric Posted December 28, 2018 #18 Share Posted December 28, 2018 It was $46 on QM2 recently.

Aspidestra99 Posted December 29, 2018 #20 Share Posted December 29, 2018 (edited) It was definitely $30 plus 15% on QE in October also in the Commodore club. I have the receipt. Odd how the prices differ from ship to ship. The gin tasting session was a similar price although this is from memory as I didn't make it to this session. I agree it is odd, but as noted in my earlier post it was definitely more expensive on QM2 than QV (and the trips were only several months apart). The drinks were the same too. That said, I preferred the set up of sitting along the bar on QM2 (rather than just in an area of the Commodore Club) and the rigour/seriousness with which mixology was taken! Shiraz49 Posted December 30, 2018 #22 Share Posted December 30, 2018 Think the classes were offered on the QE last November but couldn't make it for some reason. Have done them on every HAL cruise that we've done, fun with a capital F ..... Originally the guests were allowed to make the actual cocktails under direction of the bar staff, goes without saying that some may have been a little heavy on the alcohol side ..... last trip made by bar staff for OH&S reasons. If you get the chance do it. Cheers Tom & Maureen
