Laundry turnaround for Elite

People on here have said suites laundry can take up to 2 days or so.  Suites get same day laundry service.  Never had a problem with that.  You just need to mark the same day service box on your form.

we are elite and when we have not cruised in suites our room steward was always been able to get our laundry back by the next night if turned in by 9am the previous day.  Even if the ship was busy.

maybe just a fluke?!

as far as ironing.  I always do it myself as soon as we are unpacked so that hubbys shirt is fine for the first formal night.

Probably depends on RS.  We were in a suite last year and he said it would take 2 days.  I think he just didn't want to check.  By day 3 I was asking where our laundry was.

No for us...on the CB and the Regal we did not get suite same day service. It took 3 days plus.

It was the same on the Emerald Island and Coral in the last 12 months.

They did not care what you marked on the form.

Is it Princess or the steward?  I am not sure at this point.  Last year was the first year we did not get laundry back on time and he never once in 30 days cleaned the glass on our balcony.  Said it was Princess policy not to clean the aft balcony glass due to environmental issues.  This year, we are bringing our own squeegie.  That is a shame.  One more thing to pack.

Will see what happens on the Crown in a few weeks.  Hope not the case.

that would be really crappy since it is a perk listed on the Princess site.

It is a perk; however, it does not say next day service.  Hmmmm.

It is not Stewart. We have had discussions with the customer service manager etc.

And it's been on a few different ships.

Yeah the environmental issue is laziness.

So you think we were scammed with not having our balcony glass cleaned?  I saw all the stewards on the side cleaning the balconies when walking to the sanctuary.  Our steward said it was just the aft balconies.

They have cleaned my aft balcony on the last 3 cruises. The last one being in Nov.

I have had a few never clean the side ones. I ask then if they don't I clean it myself with bath towels and hot water. I like to be able to see out when I am sitting down.

OK...I am mad now.  So will hubby be.  He spends all his time on the balcony and he cleaned it every day himself same as you so he could see out.  That's why we book the room.  We were in a suite too.  We said first day, please take care of the balcony glass and he informed us that was not possible due to environmental issues he was not allowed to.   This year, we weighed the cost of the suite which has gone up considerably and you don't get the benefits...we did not get strawberries each day, only on formal, so same as elite, our laundry was not expedited, the 1 night in specialty restaurant really isn't a perk as you can pay on your own for the cost of the suite.  When we called room service to get the "lunch from the dining room" in our suite, it was not allowed.  We do love Sabatini and will miss the staff there; however, could not justify the huge increase in price.  We will miss the suite and my husband the shower; but I told him how long are you in the shower?  You are on the balcony in your lounge in your "space".

This summer in the Baltic, there were very few Elite AND I was in a suite- Laundry took about 2 and half days...

Last month on the Royal, there were quite a few Elite- Laundry took one day.

Honestly, I think it has as much to do with the cabin steward as anything else. Our steward on the Baltic cruise did not want to go and check. Ever.

I am not sure about a one day turn around. There are irons in the laundry rooms. I know you said you did not want to go there, but it may be the fastest way to get that one shirt ironed.

After reading reviews here.  I have to agree with you.  Our steward was not getting our laundry back last cruise and by day 3 I would ask and he said he had it in an open room.  Whatever.  that and he told us he was able to clean our suite balcony glass due to company policy, environmental issues, but went down the hall and others were being cleaned.  He said it was because we were aft.  What the heck.  Hubby cleaned it himself every day.

Honestly, I don't really fault the stewards (totally). Princess continues to increase their loads- and suites are a complete PITA due to the shower.

With that said, this steward on the Regal Baltic this summer was something else. He didn't want to do anything for us (two women). Leaving a bottle of water was met with a huge sigh and an eye roll.

Ironically, immediately following our cruise, my friend was boarding and staying in the exact same suite. She is considered a Princess VIP of the highest standards. When I mentioned to our steward that I wanted to leave some things for her- like travel books, water, and a note... He seemed amazed that I knew her and that we are friends. And suddenly his service turned up a notch or 26.

Wow, how do you get to be Princess VIP of the highest standards?  Curious?  We are a service industry and treat everyone the same.  They are all paying customers and expect the very best you can provide them.

Our last cruise in the suite they didn't even clean our balcony glass and said it was Princess policy not to, but then other stewards were doing it.  Asked and he said the aft balconies cannot be cleaned.

Every sailing - there is a list of people who are circulated who are considered VIP with Princess (or whatever line). I know who Tracie is referring to. When I was on Celebrity - I was traveling with a Travel Writer - she was also on the VIP list for our sailing. We would all want to think that every one is treated equal but all cruises circulate a list on each sailing of people that are to be given special treatment.

If you have traveled with these people - you do see that they do go out of their way to impress the people on the list.

Wow, we just try to treat others as we ourselves would like to be treated.  Having nieces in the waitress situation, we try to understand and treat them nice knowing we are not the only people they are helping.

I never knew there was such a list.

It exists.

And the "love" is mutually beneficial. People who appear on the list often provide for Princess in one way or another.

Wow, and people think we get special treatment because I am allergic to shellfish, so the HW comes over to make sure all is OK with my order.

So you want to be a cruise line VIP. The folks I know that are in this category travel almost exclusively with one line and travel a lot. Some travel in suites, at least one travels exclusively in insides, but they all travel 24ish plus weeks a year. I’m sure that frequent casino play would also get you into the category, but I don’t know any big time frequent gamblers.

Sounds like being a known travel blogger/writer might be of great help also.

Thanks for enlightening me.  Learn so much from CC people.

Under the full suite amenities list on the Princess site it does say same day laundry and cleaning service.

Like I said I have never had a problem.  Will let you know how it goes on this next cruise!

On the Crown last year for 3 B2Bs and in a suite and did not get next day, even though we checked it.  I think it does have a lot to do with the room steward.  He told me 2 days.  I said we should be able to get sooner because of suite.  Good luck!

On our last cruise we gave our bag of laundry to our RS during his evening rounds. We did this twice on a 14 day RT. In each case our laundry was returned the very next day.

I will say my prayers, but pack a little extra just in case!

You also have to get it in by a certain time in the am for it to be back that day.  I think it was either 0800 or 0900.
