Some of you know I'm a retired police officer and at each port on my AWC I stop by and visit the local police department.  In Tahiti I stopped by the Police Muncipale. I mentioned I was from Memphis and one officer retrieved a guitat from his office and started playing Elvis songs.  It was great.  Then later, another song and the female officer joined in. Pretty soon the Lieutenant stepped out of his office and sang with them.  Here are a couple of videos of them.  I love Tahiti.

The Beach: WOW!!! You've truly captured what French Polynesia is. Yes, it's the sunsets and sunrises, the beaches, mountains, atolls, the water with the amazing fish, and the flowers but again WOW, you've captured the warmth and kind nature of the people. Very cool and moving! Mauruuru Roa for sharing!

In Bora Bora we took a tour with Maohi Nui, Patrick's tour company.  He was showcased on Rudy Maxa's TV travel show.  Our guide was Moses, who took 10 of us on an outrigger canoe to swim and snorkel in 3 different places...one of them had small sharks and stringrays swimming around us.  The rays would swim quickly up to me and kinda freaked me out, especially when 2 of them did that at the same time!  I did pet them but they were slimy.  We were then off to a motu (small island) for a wonderful lunch....grilled mahi mahi and marlin, suckling pig, chicken in spinach, plantains, fresh pineapple and pomelo, breadfruit, raw fish salad, and banana pudding for dessert.  The water there was so amazing...green, aqua and blue areas that were so clear.  After lunch, we were treated to a fire dance!

Sitting here in the Horizon Lounge, after finishing Big O point activities.  We did them indoors account wind and rain.

I have to say we have been Blessed with great weather, the entire cruise.  The port days have been great, and the worst weather on sea days, where it doesn’t matter much.🙂

Continue to enjoy your adventure and the one thing you can't control is the weather!!

Overwater bungalows and underwater adventures welcome you at Bora Bora. Lose yourself in the lagoons, where the waters teem with exotic reef fish, black tipped sharks, rays and colourful corals. Sail with Moses (complete with wife & kid) as he plays the ukalele, snorkel, swim in the azure waters, eat a suckling pig cooked in in a traditional oven and enjoy a Hinano beer.

I wonder when they started the oven - pigs takes quite some time to be done.

It all looks wonderful!

Our family would put the pig and a few chickens in the imu the night before.  The men took turns tending to it during the night.

Those brunches are really something else.  The first time we attended we sat down at our table and ordered from the menu and only THEN did we realize that we could go around and find other goodies ... needless to say, we overate.

We haven't made that mistake on subsequent cruises.  When the brunch occurs we skip the menu and head for the FOOD.

And the camera (or phone) does come in handy ... as has been seen!

That's what I thought. My brother did the same one time, though on a rotisserie - tending to it during the night.

Those skinned pigs waiting for the lava rocks to get hot were the nastiest smelling things!

Rangiroa, Tuamotu Islands, French Polynesia + Bora Bora snorkeling photos by Gregory Ulrich

Timid and skittish, blacktip reef sharks don’t usually pose a threat to humans. But their shy behavior does make it difficult to get close to them while scuba diving.
