We are getting on a Regent cruise in Amsterdam and looking at hotels etc.  Could someone tell me where the port is for the ocean ships??  Is it near the port for river boats?

We're on the same Amsterdam to NYC cruise as you, and would also like to know the answer, even though we won't be staying near the port.  (We want to be near the museums.)  Why not try asking this question on our roll call and on the British Isles / Western Europe Ports of Call board.

I believe there are two cruise ports:  one close to Centraal Station, one far away.  Maybe someone on the other two boards mentioned above knows the answer.

We docked in Amsterdam on a Voyager cruise.  Were docked at the Marine Cruise Port in Westellijk and about a 50mns train ride from Centraal station.   I doubt the Voyager or any other ocean vessel could use the river cruise port.   We took a Regent shuttle bus into town and came back on the train.   I suppose this is the port you call"far away" - which is about right!  It will take 55mns to the Dam Square for example.

It appears that there are at least two, if not three, potential docking points for cruise ships:

This website gives information for ships in port month by month for the passenger terminal near the centre:

If none of this info helps, then best ask Regent where they expect to dock, albeit they may not know until close to the sailing date.

Enjoy your cruise

The Navigator is on the schedule for May 29 for the terminal near the center.  I’m happy because I’ll be on her 😀.

I am not at all sure that the Nav. can get to the terminal near the Centraal station - how will it get under the bridge?

Does the bridge move??  Lots in Holland do...

To which bridge are you referring?

These ships (larger than Navigator) seemingly have had no problems getting to the central Passenger Terminal:

Seems that you are right - I thought there was a bridge over the river near the Centraal station.  Anyway - we docked on the Voyager at the Marine Terminal which was a long way from the centre...

The PTA in the centre has been open since the year 2000, so would have been available to Voyager. I wonder why they docked so far away.

Regent does not decide where they dock.  Obviously the port authority does.  Due to traffic, ship size, etc.  They can change the docking slot at the last minute if necessary.  We have been on more than one cruise where they dock somewhere in the morning and move to another location in the afternoon.

Maybe ask Destination Services?   They are dealing with local tour operators who in turn have to have the buses at the right port!   And DS should have maps available too I would think.

(That said - on Voyager in the Baltic once we were docking in St. Petersburg.  It was announced we would dock in the main dockyard at the mouth of the river.  We sailed right past it and were docked for 3 days right in the centre of St. P.  (Could see the Hermitage from the ship!)  Unfortunately our private guide was told by the port authorities that we would be in the main dockyard and that is where she and our car were waiting for us.  So we got a somewhat late start to our tour!!  can happen any place I suppose.)

Depends on who's in port.  We did a cruise in 2017 on HAL then switched (same day) to RCCL.  Our HAL docked at the PTA near Central Station, but our RCCL had to go into Westellijk because only one cruise ship would fit into PTA at a time.  On or return on  RCCL 12 days later we docked at PTA. So you really need to look at the schedule, and keep it updated.  Our Mariner cruise was scheduled into White Bay on Dec. 15.  I had transportation set up.  Fortunately, a few days out, I heard we'd been changed to the Circular Quay Overseas Terminal and were able to notify our transportation company.
