Nonrefundale OBC

Recommended Posts

What a fortunate problem.  I may have too much nonrefundable OBC that I would like to spend on private tours.

a)  I have read that if you have a cash account rather than a CC then you can go to the casino and ask for that amount and you will not incur a 5% charge.

b)  I have read that if you have a CC on file then going to the casino and asking for that amount will cost you 5%.

c)  I have read that neither of the above will work.

What has been your experience?

They won't deduct 5% from your cash out ticket.

On Anthem, I was setup with a cash account and on day 5, I was able to take out 500$ cash from the casino cashiers window and on day 6, I took another 200$ or so, the remainder of my OBC. No vouchers were involved and no 5% fee.  I left the casino and went straight to guest services and placed my CC on file so I did not have to do so on Day 7 when the lines are long.

How much cash to u have to deposit in your "on board account" in order to "qualify"?

I have 175$ nonrefundable OBC, which I'd like back in cash...Thanks.

No cash required in the account at all.

On a 7-night cruise, they will let you charge up to $500 above any credit before they ask you to pay down the account.

When I had purchased the cruise we had a good deal and received $400 per room (2 rooms) of non-refundable OBC and I had also purchased some OBC during a promotion for Canadian residents at a very favorable exchange rate.  I was planning using OBC to purchase drink packages and specialty restaurants on board using OBC, but cruise planner promotions made it better for me to pre-purchase and just withdraw any OBC in cash from the casino.

You should be able cash out that $175 without issues.

A & B - but not cash.  They want to give you vouchers for the slots.

Just insert voucher into slot machine, pull once, cash out and return to Casino Cashier window.  😉 😄

I actually put voucher in, selected cash out didn't pull, went back to the window(after about 15 minutes) and cashed out.  I felt bad not pulling but not that bad.

There were reports that people were being given non-cashable vouchers on the newly amplified ships where you had to play the entire amount and could only cash out the winnings.  I have not seen any reports lately though

They do have the ability to do that as that is what they have been doing with the casino promo chips/vouchers that you can buy through the cruise planner.

I think that in the near future cashing out OBC for cash will be a thing of the past.

I agree.  I also think that they will stop the use of non-refundable OBC for gratuities.

That's what happened to us on our last cruise (but on Celebrity).

We always pre-pay grats, and don't drink, so we were left with 40$ non-ref OBC. The only way to get back "something" was going to the casino. We got 20X2 vouchers, and each of us tried our luck. We managed to win 37.50$ "back"....😀

Our next cruise is also with X, we have the grats and 175$ OBC non ref. I'm pretty sure we'll not get "back" so much...., unless I'll find a way to cash it.

During my Allure B2B (Nov 25 and Dec 2, 2018), I had a cash account for both sailings and the casino cashier paid out cash directly from non-refundable OBC. I was surprised at that. The first time I went to the cashier, I actually asked for a $20 slot voucher (to test if it could be played and cashed out), but I just got handed a $20 bill. During subsequent visits over the two weeks, I simply asked for cash and there were absolutely no issues.
