No cabin assignment

On Jan 5th I booked a last minute cruise for me and the hubby. We have one booked for April and we were 4 days short of hitting platinum so we decided to book one just to get there.

I booked a interior cabin cuz we are going on the cheap.. I even said hey, let them pick the room...

So now my cruise is in 10 days and I still haven't been assigned a room.. is this unusual?? The cruise is sold out, has been for almost a week.  So why no cabin assignment.

I want to print out my luggage tags and boarding passes.

My husband said I should call them because the longer I wait the more of a chance I'll get a really bad room or we will get there and they will send us home.:classic_ohmy:

I was thinking of waiting and hoping for a miracle upgrade.

What is your opinion, should I call or wait?

You could get cabin assignment of a guarantee booking as late as when  you show up at the pier the day of the cruise.

Calling won’t expedite the process.  It’s also not indicative you’ll get a crappy assignment and you certainly aren’t going to be sent home empty-handed.

Such is the peril of booking a guarantee, much to the chagrin of the OCD passenger.

I feel for you.  I go a step further and put a no upgrade on my cabin choice.  This prevents them from automatically “upgrading” my room without first asking.   Every unrequested upgrade I have ever gotten I was not happy with.

It won’t hurt to call.  Let us know what they say😁

Not calling is not why you may get a room assignment you don't like.  They won't assign your room because you called unless you have decided to pay to upgrade and select a cabin (unless it is too late for that).  Guarantees are always used to fill unsold rooms and unsold rooms tend to be the rooms no one else wanted.

Yes, taking a guarantee interior very well may end you up under the gallery or next to the steward's pantry vs taking a guarantee balancy won't.

Does your boarding pass have TBD. We once did this and did not find out our cabin until in check in line. Good luck hope it works out as Platinum is well worth it

It does say that. But I already completed the online check-in...

Even if we get a lousy cabin, it's a cruise, how bad can it be

How do you feel about 3 am pots dropped on the floor over your head?  What about 7 am stewards pulling their carts out?

Not trying to sound negative, but what is well worth it being Platinum?  My wife and I have both been Platinum for awhile now and the only benefit we use every cruise is the two for one entries for the slot tournament.  I guess the D&P party would be a nice benefit for the free drinks, but we always get Cheers so that negates that benefit. I am not down on Carnival at all, we still cruise on them all the time because we have always had a great time on whatever ship we have been on.  But I definitely don’t cruise on Carnival because of any great benefits associated with being Platinum.

Not real crazy about it but I always bring an iPod and headphones because my husband is a snorer so I'll survive.

Despite what the naysayers are saying, we often get a Gty OV.  Invariably, we'll be somewhere 'fine' down on Riviera deck.  All good.

That said, I likely wouldn't do a Balc guaranty.  Too many risky cabins.

Well, I am excited to be platinum, we don't get drink packages so a few free drinks are nice and priority boarding is always nice.  But I know the benefits aren't all that spectacular.. still I'll be happy to be there ! 😁

We did two Carnival guarantees and didn't find out our cabins until the day of sailing - same cabin type as booked, no upgrades. Luggage handlers had a copy of the manifest and did our luggage tags for us. We prefer to book our own cabins for type and location and said we wouldn't do it again. Never say never as the Holland America cruise we are taking in 2 weeks had a mandatory guarantee for our Neptune Suite in order to get the unbelievable casino rate. Made the booking in Nov. and still waiting for our cabin assignment. The Neptune Suites have been sold out for weeks, but still waiting. At least we know we will get the Neptune, but we usually book Neptunes close to the Neptune Lounge for convenience. I know it's hard to wait, but you just have to bite the bullet and concentrate on other things about the cruise. Enjoy!

Maybe if you go into it not expecting caviar and diamonds you'll be pleasantly surprised. The only reason you booked it was to up your status right so regardless of the room it's still a cruise. Try to think positive and bring ear plugs just in case.

You can sign in and check, sometimes a room number will magically appear. Other times you won't know until you get to the port. I wouldn't worry, have a great cruise.

I keep checking, so far nothing 🤨

Yep, not expecting anything, if I get a good room I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Now see I guess that depends on the person. I would use the priority embarkation, tender, guest services line and laundry...And I've seen some platinum gifts I wouldn't turn down.
