Possible "status" change while on board?

Our "status" is currently Ruby but we are only a few sail days away to becoming Platinum. We will be sailing on a 15 day cruise in April. Has anyone ever been given the higher status while on board the ship?

On Princess if you are qualified for a status increase it won't happen until the next cruise you sail on. Sorry

Status updates are done at the end of each cruise not in the middle.

As noted the cruise has to be completed unless it is a b2b type and then it would depend on how it was booked.

However, if the 15-day cruise is also sold as two shorter cruises, you could receive the new status at the beginning of the second cruise. You may need to talk with the Captain's Circle host to receive your new cruise card and benefits.

 

If the 15-day cruise is only available as a single cruise, then the Princess rules are very clear - status changes at the beginning of your next cruise.

My husband and I had a back to back with first half being Ruby and Platinum on the last half and yes they changed our status   Even our doir tags changed

That's what happened to us.  We booked a Caribbean East/West B2B as one unit.  On the second leg of the cruise, we were upgraded to Platinum.  The surprise to us was that we didn't realize that it was considered to be two cruises.

If you look at the chart for the different levels, it says that after completing the x number of cruises you will move to the new level.

I was moved from platinum to elite 2 days into a 15 night cruise, against the rules but that’s what cc host decided to do.

No, I just enquired about how many days I had, and she said come back in 3 days and I’ll move you.  This was about 6 years ago

You will have also noticed that the B2B counted as 2 cruise credits.

All our Caribbean E/W 14 day cruises to date have counted as 2 cruise credits whether booked as b2b or 14 day.

I read this as reaching Platinum by number of days, not by number of cruises. In that case, I thought you could speak to the  CC host and have it changed.

My husband turned Platinum (for number of cruises) on the second half of our b2b last summer and he did not automatically advance even though we received new cards (cabin change)  We spoke to the host and got him changed and it allowed him to receive his internet minutes and have a card the same color as mine.

It did not change automatically because the new cruise cards were printed out before the end of your first segment and he had not advanced yet since that segment had not ended.

 

By the way, if you advance to a higher level, it does not change in the Personalizer for future cruises you have previously booked. You need to contact Princess to have the status updated for those already booked future cruises.

That's not typical but it was a very nice gesture for sure.
