Crown Princess Question

Hubby and I have always had a late dining seating. On our last cruise on Caribbean Princess we felt rushed to see the show or at times they only had one early show which also conflicted. For those who have been on the Crown recently, what times are the shows at? Are we better off doing anytime dining and if so what would be a good time so that we don't feel rushed in order to get to the late show? TIA 🙂

We were on the Crown Christmas cruise.  Early traditional dining was at 5:15 and late traditional was at 7:15.  We thought the shows were well synched at 7:15 (for early diners) and 9:15 (for late diners).

IMO since you like to see the shows........ I would do early traditional or AT and go early.

We just got off the Crown.  Late fixed dining was at 7:15 although the doors opened about 7:00 most nights.  The late showroom performance was at 9:15 although most evenings, seating was almost full at 9:00.  We rushed through dinner and even skipped dessert to get to the show some nights.

Not doubting your experiences at all, but just to show how experiences can differ from one cruise to another - on our Christmas cruise when we arrived at 9 pm we had no problems getting decent seats (center above the half dozen steps).  DH also never had to skip dessert!

On our last cruise we had late TD dining at 7:15 as the early dining was just too dang early for us. The downside was that they ended up scheduling most of the game show type events at times when the late dining people were unable to attend. We have 3 cruises booked this year and have booked ATD for all of them.

We found letting the servers know as you sat down you wanted to catch a show, they would push up the service to make sure you had time to make it.

Anytime you're ready you can show up at the door to eat. Just like any land based restaurant.

Traditional dining times have moved to 5:30 and 7:30 and show times moved to 7:45 and 9:45 on our last cruise a few weeks ago.  It worked out well for us doing late dining as 7:30 is much better than the old 8:30 time and entertainment is timed well.

We got off crown yesterday

we had anytime dining

made reservation every morning via dine line

very easy to get table for 2 !

only one night we had to go a bit later than we like but on a 10 day cruise I won’t complain!

 

we enjoyed DaVinci dining room slightly more than Michelangelo- Just our personal opinion

Off the Crown Princess on Feb. 5. Early Traditional in the aft dining room was at 5pm, mid-ship at 5:15pm. Early show at 7:15 and late show at 9:15pm. HUGE improvement on the ridiculously early shows at 6:45 & 8:45pm on the Caribbean Princess cruise right before this one!

The 6:45 show was aimed at the late diners although it was always filled since many early diners made it to the show anyway even though they arrived after it had started.

The actual process of getting seated at a table isn’t usually that straight forward🤭

That's true. Mostly when you choose to eat at the most popular times from 6:16 to 7:30.

In all our years of cruising I can only recall 1 time when we dined with friends & showed up around 7 PM and had to wait 30 minutes with a beeper.  

Try adjusting your schedule around those hours & you'll fine there isn't much of a wait at all unless you have to have a table for 2.

We had late TD on the Crown last year and never had an issue finding a seat for the late show time...and that was with a party anywhere from 6-12 people.  I think the demographics on Princess play out better for those doing the late show than the early show.  Just MHO.

And do you Crown Princess guests have 2 chairs in a balcony room?

And ... that defeats the entire purpose of "ANYTIME" dining. 

Either you get there really early (and wait), Wait in line, or eat after 7:30

If you get to the DR doors before 6 PM there's hardly ever a wait.

Arrive at 6:30 PM and they'll give you a beeper & you'll never make the first show.

There is very seldom more than a 5 minute wait when you say you'll share at any size table and be seated at any wait station.

Which does absolutely no good if you want to eat at 7pm
