this might help... " To simplify the tipping process for our guests, a discretionary gratuity of $15.50 per guest for suites, $14.50 per guest for mini-suites and club class, and $13.50 per guest for interior, oceanview, and balcony staterooms. This gratuity will be shared amongst those staff who help provide and support your cruise experience, including all waitstaff, stateroom stewards, buffet stewards, and housekeeping staff across the fleet"

Can someone tell me what the total for the day gratuities are on Caribbean Princess?

They are a suggestion. You can go to guest services and make them what ever you feel is appropriate

Thanks.  I just wanted to know what we were saving as we have prepaid gratuities, so don't have to use our OBC.

Since tipping includes the waitstaff does that mean you don't have to tip the MDR waiters at the end of the cruise?

Anyone you should consider tipping (other than bars, spa, casino)?

Tipping is a virulent subject here on Cruise Critic. But, here is my take after more than 40 Princess cruises.

You do not have to tip waiters. But, many passengers that have traditional dining, same table same waiter, for the entire cruise do provide an extra cash tip at the end. Those that have anytime dining with a different waiter each evening normally do not provide any extra tips.

No different than a land based casino. At the casino tables it is normal practice for winners to provide some gratuity in the form of chips to the dealers. The amounts vary depending on how much you win and how much you wager. It is also common during play to place a bet for the dealers, especially when playing craps. No way to really tip when playing slots.

At the spa an automatic gratuity is added to the charge. You are free to adjust this up or down.

At bars and other beverage areas an 18% gratuity is automatically added to the menu price of each beverage ordered. You have no say in this. You are free to tip additional cash as you wish. Some that spend lots of time at a bar or lounge do provide additional tips. Some every day, some at the end of the cruise. My observation is that those occasional drinkers do not provide anything extra. The 18% gratuity is included in the purchase price if you purchase any beverage package. Additional tips are not required. Personally I don't walk around the ship with cash. If I wish to tip I provide it in an envelope at the end of the cruise.

We always provide and extra cash tip to the steward with a thank you note at the end of the cruise. The amount depends on the length of the cruise. When the steward is really good, which they normally are, we provide a commendation to passenger services.
