CruisinCons- I was thinking the same thing. We are booked in a veranda state room on deck 7.

My question is about the gym/fitness center.  What are the hours to work out in the gym...we do not need a trainer nor a class.  We have sailed on Summit 5 out of the last 6 years and have never had an issue.  Today, I received an email that makes it sound like passengers can't do that anymore....that use of the gym is by schedule, i.e. Classes or personal trainers. Say it isn't true.  This could be a real issue for us, esp my gym rat hubby.

What? That really would be awful..we have a 9 day cruise booked and are gym users..

What did the e mail say exactly?..

Is the gym much smaller than before?

That's pretty hard to believe.  And yes, can you please tell us exactly what the email said.  Thanks!

The email is from Canyon and gives the hours as 8-8.  It of course talks about spa treatments, massages, etc and then it describes the gym and lists the fitness classes and services, such as personal trainers, nutrition, etc.. It tells you had to schedule such, but nowhere does it say anything about working out on your own as we have in the past. And that said we were usually in the gym about 6:30 am.  The email and its links say nothing about the hours for the gym itself?  BTW! There is a charge for classes, such as spinning, Zumba, etc.

I tried to call earlier but couldn't get through to anyone who knew anything about this.  I will try again tomorrow and let you know if I find out anything.

Thank you for all your great posts and pictures.  You have answered many questions we had prior to finding you on Cruise Critic.  We set sail June 5 on Summit.  Chose the same cabin we had on our October cruise.  C2, Deck 8. Looking forward to our cruise.  Again, thank you!

Thanks for clarifying..

8 to 8 sounds like spa hours rather than the gym. The e mail  may just be an ad for their varied services and classes.  Let's hope so.

Hopefully, the gym is open  much earlier as usual, with access to machines and weights.    If someone has the app for Summit, maybe it shows the hours for the gym versus the spa.........

If we can  somehow move this discussion to the gen Summit Revolution thread,   we may get more info..unless OP  is still on board and can check...

I don't buy a wifi package so my phone doesn't work on board so I guess the app wouldn't be useful.

You don’t need to buy a WiFi package to use the app.  It works for free on the ship’s intranet.

As far as I can tell, the area where the gym was located now has 13 new A1 Aqua Class rooms so I would assume the spa area is a lot smaller.

DH will be in gym next week. Will do if nothing by then.....

Thank you very much.

.We use the treadmills and a variety of the weight machines,...hope they still have those.   If not , a universal or free weights are okay too

I'll check that out for you. They downsized that area, correct???

Hopefully they have not downsized the gym.  If so, DH will be most unhappy...and it will probably mean that we won't sail with Summit again. A universal and free weights would not be enough for him.  It would mean more people using less equipment, as in crowded.  If we knew this before the final, payment, I'm sure he would have had me cancel.  This has the potential of being a miserable cruise.

For you I will take a full on video. I hope you still sail.
