Travel day done.  We flew AA from Ohare to Charlotte to San Juan.  Non-eventful flights, though both flights were extremely overbooked.  Non Boing max 8’s but I expect a ripple effect.

 

Admiral Lounge has some recent updates at ORD, and Charlotte is VERY plush.  Loved the fresh guacamole bar!

 

AA’s domestic first cabin leaves a lot to be desired, especially in the older fleet, and even worse in the old US Airways planes. We got both today.  

 

Luggage took about 4O minutes at SJU, and we took a cab ($23) to the Sheraton (convention). More on the hotel tomorrow.  Aprilfool77 arrived early today and will give us a tour of the resort tomorrow. She also got a glimpse of Summit from the plane and the hotel! 

 

Photos start at Ohare Admiral, the Charlotte admiral, and finally, first class lunch (preorder meat veggie hummus platter)

Will do!  They have a HIIT class listed on the app (went live today) and fellow cruiser Aprilfool77 are both Orange theory fans, so we will certainly check out the rowers!

Our group (two families of 3) have two RS cabins.  We will hopefully get a video tour in.  The FV I hope to get on a cabin crawl—we had one corner aft years ago and the balcony was AMAZING!

Many thanks!  And I see from your later post you’ll be doing a cabin crawl, so if you visit a C3 or C2, it would be great to see some photos if you have a chance. There are some appearing now on the Summit Revolution thread; the colors look very elegant, but it’s hard to tell the closet and other storage situation.  Looks like no drawers in the desk, and no coffee table.  (But your main goal should be to have a great cruise, so ignore any of these requests of course!)

Since your family has RS cabins, you will have access to the suite retreat area.  I would appreciate it if you would take some photos of the suite retreat hot tub, specifically of any wheelchair lift there is going into the hot tub.  Also, would you take a photo of any elevator going up to the suite retreat area (or note if there are only stairs going up there).  I haven't been able to determine access from the photos which have been taken and posted thus far.  Thank  you.  Have a great cruise!!

Hope you have a great trip!! - following for updates.  Booked with DH for September to Bermuda.  Almost booked RS but opted for CS instead. My last time on X was on Summit in 2012 and I had a CS with my 2 sisters.

Here are pictures of the retreat elevator and the lift for the hot tub.  A TA posted these on a FB group that I am in.  I hope these are what you are looking for.  😃

Following along!  We are on the Summit on 4/13 in a Sky Suite.  Can't wait!  Glad you had a good trip through the CLT airport, that's our hometown.  Lots of renovation going on in some of the concourses these days.

Day -1

 

A beautiful day in San Juan. We had breakfast and dinner at the Sheraton Convention Hotel, mid-day in Old San Juan ($15 taxi) and enjoyed the hotel pool. 

 

Sheraton Staff has been wonderful.

 

Old San Juan was pretty busy for a Sunday and we had a great Spanish meal at Triana.

 

Funny moment of the day: I am a public school teacher and a group of moms spotted me at the hotel Casino.  10 moms and there Senior sons (many former students) on our cruise!
