dmori Posted April 20, 2019 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2019 Will we receive an on-board itinerary of some sort prior to cruising? How do we get info on formal night, etc? Thanks!
Rare mom says Posted April 20, 2019 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2019 Are you asking about the daily newsletter (each Cruiseline calls it by a different name)? This must be your first cruise. You will find a newsletter in your cabin every evening with details for ship activities for the following day. There will be Port information as well if that day is a port day. If you want more information in advance (like which nights are evening chic or formal nights,) you can also ask on the Roll Call for your particular sailing. Or you can post a question on the forum devoted to your cruise line.
dmori Posted April 20, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted April 20, 2019 Yes first time and too much of a planner! I’ll ask on Roll Call. Thanks!
paul929207 Posted April 20, 2019 #4 Share Posted April 20, 2019 Each cruise line is different, so they each provide different info in different ways.

hallux Posted April 20, 2019 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2019 I imagine ships have a "template" of sorts, but the cruise director could change things up. Looking at the "schedule" for one cruise can give you a general idea but if the cruise director changes they could mix things up some.
BaumD Posted April 20, 2019 #7 Share Posted April 20, 2019 Many time, the schedule you get for day 1, will have a recap of the evening dress for the entire cruise.

True ... Helpful for planning for the rest of the cruise. Sometimes there is an exexpected change.
SRF Posted April 21, 2019 #9 Share Posted April 21, 2019 These days, on most lines, dress is optional. Our last cruise (last week :D) on "formal" night, I saw men in everything from tuxes to shorts/t-shirts. IT IS A VACATION. RELAX and enjoy, don't overthink it and get too wound up. GUT2407 Posted April 21, 2019 #10 Share Posted April 21, 2019 I think your over thinking things, if you know how many formal nights, what’s it matter at this stage when they are
SciFiGuy1960 Posted April 22, 2019 #11 Share Posted April 22, 2019 Carnival calls their daily schedule "Fun Times" which as mentioned will be delivered to your cabin each day. For an example of what is included in the Fun Times here is a thread from the Vista for a 7 night out of Galveston.
dmori Posted April 22, 2019 Author #12 Share Posted April 22, 2019 Thank you for your reply! I guess I was unclear in my initial post. As per other comments, I was looking more for how many formal nights to expect. This is super helpful to give me insight on what to expect. We are first time cruisers. Thank you kindly for your kind and informative response.
Rare Turtles06 Posted April 22, 2019 #13 Share Posted April 22, 2019 1 hour ago, dmori said: I was looking more for how many formal nights to expect You can often find that info on the cruise line’s own website; below is Carnival’s dress code page with the info you are looking for. It’s also something you can ask about here on CC in the forum for your cruise line.
