OBC and casino

I feel like I have seen this discussed before, but can't seem to find the thread that explains it, so please forgive me for asking again. We have a combination of OBC from travel agency and shareholder credit. We'd like to use some as tips, but can some be used in the casino? If yes to the casino, how is this done?

Thanks so much. On the Royal in two weeks!

I've never gambled at the tables, but we use the slots to collect our extra non-refundable OBC.

Follow the instructions for creating an account with your Medallion (never done a Medallion cruise) or ask the casino host for help.

Set up the account, move the amount of OBC you want to use into the account and play slots.

There are "beginner's classes" for some of the table games, they probably explain it.

OR someone who does this all the time will chime in here.

OBC is a credit posted to your on board account. Your account(s) will start with a credit balance. All onboard expenses including the daily auto gratuity, beverage purchases, specialty dining, on board shops, tours, etc.  are added to your account as they occur, and your account has a running net balance. If you charge casino play to your on board account it just becomes another expense. OBC isn't specifically allocated. It is just a simple debit/credit accounting system. To charge your account in the casino slots just place your cruise card or medallion in the slot and select the amount you want to gamble. To use at a table just provide your cruise card/medallion to the dealer, mention the amount you want, like $100, they will charge it to your account and provide you with chips.

If you take cash to use at the tables, is there any extra charge? NCL charges 3% t do this.

No extra charge. $100 cash or $100 charged to your cabin gets you the same $100 in chips. Are you sure NCL charges extra for cash?  Believe I read the 3% charge is when you charge to your cabin.

We did this on our last cruise with no issue. Just went to get cash as we normally do and just asked for it to be taken with our OBC.

Doesn't matter if you withdraw from your OBC or charge to your room. 3% applies to both.

Just so you are aware. On Princess there is no difference between charging to your cabin or using OBC. Any and all on board charges, including casino charges, that are charged to your cabin's account are posted to your account as an expense, and net against any credit balance in your account. You can't specifically designate how you spend OBC.

There is no 3% charge on Princess - we play every night in the casino from our cabin account and have no been charged for many many years
