pre night hotel for Bayonne cruise terminal?

We are flying into LaGuardia 2 days before our cruise in Oct.  We have decided to stay in midtown Manhattan because it is right between the airport and the cruise terminal, and it is central to all the places we want to go.  We will either stay at the Hilton Timesquare, or the Fitzpatrick (my DH's favorite hotel).   I would figure out what you want to see, and pick your hotel that is central to that.  Don't forget to take into consideration the cost of transportation around town, and to the port.

We really enjoyed the location of the Hampton Inn by Madison Square Gardens.  Easy train in from Newark airport.  On embarkation day we took the subway across the river, then the light rail to Bayonne.  Last bit was a very short taxi ride into the port.  We travel with carry on only so it was a fun adventure to start the cruise - would be challenging with a lot of luggage.

We are flying in on August 22nd from  San Diego.  We would like to sight see New York.  Any suggestions for a hotel?

Which airport are you flying into?  How many people? How many nights?  Hotel budget?  Bed size requirements?  We need ALL these details to provide the best advice.  It looks like you are sailing from Cape Liberty, but there are 3 NY area airports and you have already selected one of them, which has already limited your options.  Knowing your sightseeing objectives in NYC would also be helpful as well as knowing if using accessible public transit is an option.  Your hotel budget may limit your options as well.

We were thinking of flying into Newark.  We were going to stay one night before leaving on the cruise on the 7th.  Then when we get back, (post cruise)stay one more night to do more sight seeing.  We dont leave on our flt till 5:00 on the 18th.

Is there anything to see in New Jersey?

We would like to see the Statue of Liberty and central park.  We haven’t booked a hotel for both nights.

if we did decide to stay 2 nights pre cruise, what is there to do post cruise before we get in our flt, and what do we do with our luggage?

Could you be more precise about your exact dates (including year) , which appear to have changed from your original post.  Which ship? What is your hotel budget?  Two people?  The strategies we offer can depend on all this info.

We are going on the Anthem sept 7, 2109.  Return on sept 12th.

Two people, hotel budget $250.00.

We did change the original date from August to September.

It would be nice to spend a few nights post cruise in the Hampton area.

So you’re planning to fly in Fri Sep 6?  Are you planning to sightsee precruise in NYC or just stay at the hotel?  After the cruise are you thinking about renting a car and immediately driving out to the Hamptons on Long Island for several days?  If you want to go out to the Statue if Liberty, you could easily do that if you disembark, go back to the airport and rent a car, and drive to Liberty State Park in NJ for the SOL ferry.  This solves the luggage storage issue for the SOL.
