Can I bring water or soda on board?

Effective for sailings July 15, 2016 and beyond, guests are prohibited from bringing any beverages -- including liquor, beer and non-alcoholic drinks such as water, soda and juices -- on board either as carry-on or checked luggage, with the exception of purified or distilled water in factory-sealed containers for use in conjunction with medical devices or for the reconstitution of infant formula; and fully sealed and/or corked wine bottles for personal consumption onboard that is subject to screening and a corkage fee (for guests 21 years of age or older). Open beverages of any kind must be consumed or discarded at the security check-point, on embarkation day and at any port of call. This revised policy brings the company in line with other best practice travel security protocols and reduces the need for individual time consuming screening and package inspection of large volumes of beverages

I think we’ve been had - again.

OP has been on CC for 12 years and has over 1000 posts...

This question comes up twice a week.

Your analysis is incomplete, the OP is not normally on the NCL boards. So, your criticism is unfounded.

They do not allow full water bottles in or out of your luggage. They would not allow us to bring our empty recyclable plastic water bottles on board the Joy this past week. You could bring empty personal reusable water bottles on board if they were empty when entering the ship.

You can ask for water at every bar and restaurant and carry the glass with you throughout the ship however. It's free. I did it constantly. We didn't even use all the complimentary bottled water they gave us in our room as it was so easy to order water anywhere on the ship and I constantly drink water all day.

Except that 10 hours before reply #29 had been posted on another thread with the exact same topic.  New to NCL and too lazy to search.

I guess with 8,000 posts per year, you’d be the final authority on all such things... 🤔

Distilled Water for CPAP...

Does NCL provide this free of charge? Celebrity does, but on our HAL cruise we were charged for it and gratuities were added. When we made our reservation for the Jewel our big box TA asked about any medical needs and I requested distilled water for DH.

To be safe should we bring a gallon aboard with us? If so, does DH need a note from his Dr.?

It is free. Call the NCL access desk or use their web link to arrange. You can’t take the water past security, so don’t bring it. You would need permission from the cruise line. The rent-cop port security would not care what your doctor’s note said.

Maybe a sticky post is in order - one reminding folks to review the information provided to them by NCL on the website regarding this topic.

Personally - I feel no need to bring bottled water, I just bring a bottle and fill it from the faucet in the room.  In general, that water is created on the ship from seawater and is probably better quality than most US municipalities provide in their water systems.
