What have they done to your Cuba cruise?

Recommended Posts

They had promised a 826.00 obc and we got 395.00

I reached out to rccl again today and am convinced they won't even try to handle this in the short term... They told me "not to worry as any unused obc gets refunded to the card ".. That tells me they won't fix it while I'm cruising. What will happen later is anybody's guess.

They also stopped replying to my emails.

I guess one needs to keep watching these cruise websites.  I look at cruisedotcom to see availability then call Club Royale for upgrade availability.  There were NO rooms for Majesty July 8th, but today for a while they had JR Suites and Oceanview 2M Spacious Oceanview.  I upgraded my Oceanview to 2M for only $26.00 which last week was quoted to me, at $150 upgrade, yes!

So keep checking ever few days, you never know.

This concerns me and is why I have not sailed with them (Casino offers or otherwise) since mid 2016!

Well.. bad news for those (like me) who booked throught the club royale. After being told over the phone AND confirmed in writing (email from ClubRoyale) about the amount we would received, we got the the ship and discovered the OBC was for less than half of the 50% of the cruise fare they told us.

Guest services has NO idea what to do.. just told me to contact Club Royale... I emailed club royale, and got no reply... then called them (Im still on the Majesty as I type this) and the 1st person there told me"oh.. you use points so you qualify for ZERO dollars in obc.." I explained to her that this was nonsense as there was already a decent credit, just not the correct amount.. she did not belive me, and I had to forward her the email from Club Royale... still, no solution.. told me to wait.

I then sent a Twitter to RCCL.. someone replied to me quickly, and it has been 2 days.. they still have no idea.. just keep telling me "we are trying to get more info on this matter and will get back to you shortly". Today, they sent me a direct message via Twitter telling me they would credit me 200 pp in casino money.

Club Royale keeps telling me to contact Guest services, and guest services has no idea of what ClubRoyale is (a man at the desk kept looking at me like I was an alien explaining extraterrestrial affairs).

We were told if we cancelled, we would get the full cruise fare... and if we took the cruise, we would get 50% of the cruise fare as per invoice, which would have been 826.00. 1st day of cruise, we noticed a 197.50 obc per person.

This post concerns me.   Did you book with points of some kind?   I booked through Club Royale but I only got a slightly discounted rate.  I was told I would receive 50% of what I paid and I am fine with that.  The truth is I didn't get a good deal to begin with.  The price dropped 2 days after I booked and I could have paid $250 less directly with RCCL but since it was after final payment I was stuck with the higher casino rate.  Now I am worried about how much OBC I will get if I take this cruise.

I believe they booked a comp cruise like me.  You should be fine and will likely get 50% of your fare after discount was applied

What have they done to my Cuba cruise? Totally F'ed it up, and I'm spending too much time fixing their problems!

So, I called today about what's going on with my Key West trolley excursion I booked before the itinerary change.  It was listed in my cruise planner on the same day as Coco Cay. I'm thinking okay, no big deal the ticket will be for the correct day. Wrong! Tour is cancelled including the other umpteen Key West excursions that are listed the same day as Coco Cay. But I had to CALL to find this out.  There is only ONE Key West excursion available for the June 24,  Majesty of the Seas... get it while you can! Argh!

Then I asked, "So what's the deal with the OBC for those who booked with MyVegas?" Now I am being told that the 50% OBC is not the 50% of the discounted cruise fare in refundable OBC, it is now 50% of the actual cruise fare being issued in casino free play, which is more than double what I was expecting. Who knows what I will get when I am actually on board.

Thanks for the reply.  It makes me feel better.   I  was worried that booking through Club Royale would somehow affect my OBC.

When I called and asked about my OBC I was told a number that was 50% of the total amount including the taxes.  I questioned it but the agent insisted that I would get 50% of all money paid.  I didn't argue but I knew better.

For me that would be nearly $980 though, I wonder if my paid upgrades are included?  I wonder if a grand, would be enough for 2,500 points for Prime and the comped cruise?  Bahamas Paradise does double points, does Club Royale still do the same?

I was told today that is based on when your sailing is, what type of comp/casino fare this is, mine Myvegas is different than Casino comps, voyages for 30 days or less is for onboard credit, while later ones are casino freeplay.

Brand new member... first post.

Bestie and I had booked 7/3 sailing on Majesty as I’ve wanted to visit Cuba since it ‘opened’ back up. Was quite disappointed with the new restrictions but it is what it is. My kids will be at summer camp and husband will be working, so we’re counting our blessings with the credit and cruising on. Also hoping this will increase our chances to have a winning “RoyalUP” bid. 🙂 Will be my girlfriend’s first time cruising (mine was back in ‘90 on the Song of Norway).

Did notice that RCCL refunded our Havana excursion to my CC last week. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do in Costa Maya? None of the listed excursions seem overly appealing, especially considering prices and thinking about what we’re missing out on. Does the spa offer discounted services on port days? Previous cruises have been with kids and/or husband so spa was never on my radar.

I get so many different answers. My dream would be the $856 refundable OBC which I would take to spend on a couple NCL cruises!

We are about 5 miles from the port. Mike doesn't have unlimited PTO, but he can bid for trips with more time off, trip trade or drop trips. This makes it easier to get up to about 8 days off at a time without using up vacation time.  I will be looking for some cheap trips, but so far I have only found a couple. It's probably to early, but I looked yesterday and again today.

Based on terminology, I’m making the assumption that your family is same industry as mine... that said, have you ever cruised using an Interline rate? Curious as to how those fares compare with firesale prices available to general public direct from cruise line.

Maya Chan.

I’ll second Maya Chan. But they only take a certain number of reservations per day. Our party of ten reserved our cabana nearly a year in advance.

I’d check now if you’re interested.

It's a rough ride to the resort, but once there, they take very good care of you.

Surprisingly, I was able to get reservations for June 21 on June 11.  I think they must have had reservations cancelled as a result of the former Cuba cruise cancellations, as usually they are booked up six months in advance.  Might the same for the July 3 cruise.

Already confirmed our space for 7/5! We did get advance warning about the excess levels of sea grass so I wonder if that has anything to do with it? 😬 If you’re headed there later this week, please report back.

Regardless, Maya Chan looks like a funky relaxed place... which is right up our alley! Thanks, again, for the recommendation!!
