Will the Pinnacle Grill be open for lunch on Panama Canal transit day?

I figure it's a very long day and the AC and peaceful venue might be very welcome, window or not. 🙂

You are right on both counts.  Also, if you're doing the full transit there are three sets of locks.  So if you happen to be eating lunch while the ship is locking through one set you'll have one or two more chances to watch the FASCINATING procedure.   I've been through a few times on HAL ships and will do it again next month on Volendam.  It never gets old <-- well, OK, I'm a retired engineer so it doesn't take much to amuse me. 😉

It is nice to have the windows, just for the natural light. However, it is not necessary. We have been through the canal eight times and have become accustomed to being in the Pinnacle for lunch that day. Typically, it is not crowded and the staff has the time (and if you encourage them a bit) to chat with you quite a bit. It is a nice alternative to the goofiness upstairs.
