TTraub1250 Posted September 13, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 13, 2019 Does anyone have experience with the Mystery Dinner at a specialty restaurant on any class RCCL ship ? We are sailing on Adventure of the Seas this January and they are holding the mystery dinner in Giovanni's. They want $80 per person and will probably add 18% tip, so it is rather expensive if it is a dud ! We have been to some very good mystery dinners, so the caliber is important to us. Just dinner at Giovanni's is $30.
njkruzer Posted September 14, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2019 We have done it in the past and enjoyed it. It starts in a lounge where the mystery is set up and then proceeds to restaurant. I think they served something there, at least drinks. Also dinner included wine. We had food issues, which we told them about in advance and they handled them. Whether it's worth the price is up to you.
Krazyfuntimes Posted September 14, 2019 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2019 I did it on Freedom and it was a BLAST! I would do it again. So fun, great food and tons of great memories! Worth the money in my opinion.

The entertainment is OK, but the menu is very limited and the wine is the lowest end wine they have.
LewLewBelle Posted September 14, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 14, 2019 We love murder mystery dinner shows but this one was hard to follow and awful ! We spent $200 for the 4 of us when we went. No microphones made it hard to hear them. We missed the welcome aboard show and regretted our choice.
Coralc Posted September 14, 2019 #6 Share Posted September 14, 2019 I think $80 per person is too expensive For the limited menu, inexpensive wine or sparkling wine and a sort of amateurish show. I think it was $50 p/p when we did it. It was a one and done experience. 😊
sgmn Posted September 14, 2019 #7 Share Posted September 14, 2019 They were offering 50% discount on Jewel last February. They came around the MDR with the offer for the next evening. We really enjoyed it but don't think I would of paid full price.
Bookish Angel Posted September 14, 2019 #8 Share Posted September 14, 2019 (edited) My then 14 year old daughter and I did it many years ago and were underwhelmed as she and I both figured it out about 20 minutes in. Very amateurish and not at all mentally challenging. Edited September 14, 2019 by Bookish Angel
not-enough-cruising Posted September 14, 2019 #9 Share Posted September 14, 2019 (edited) We did it this July on Freedom, it was TERRIBLE. The menu was really poorly constructed, the show itself was like a high school production, and just went on and on and on; also it turns out to NOT be family friendly as advertised. As a side note, another issue we had was a party of about 8 people taking FULL advantage of their drink package being very loud and profanely vulgur during any audience participation portion of the show. We (and other guests) asked staff several times to do something about this group and they refused to confront them. We eventually left. We ran into several folks at GS that evening, all lodging a complaint and requesting refunds. kidless Posted September 14, 2019 #10 Share Posted September 14, 2019 Hmmmm we just bought Mystery Dinner for our April Serenade Cruise. We don’t mind cheesy corny show but these reviews don’t sound very good. But things like this can be subjective. May have to rethink our plan! 😞

ownedbypets Posted September 14, 2019 #13 Share Posted September 14, 2019 We have done it twice and it was years ago. What made us enjoy it were our tablemates. The first time was fantastic and the second was a dud.
