lidolovers Posted September 15, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2019 We are sailing on the Allure in December and I we would love to get a little onboard credit. They cancelled one of our ports because of the propulsion problem but they did not offer anything. I did call and ask but they said royal doesn’t give credit for that kind of thing. Does anyone know of a way to pick up some onboard credit before our cruise ? I know the myVEGAS app rewards have some but the requirements and rules are ridiculous that I don't think anyone ever does it. We booked directly through RCI Thanks! deliver42 Posted September 15, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2019 You can purchase OBC, which would be refundable of the unused portion.

If you own 100 shares of RC stock, you can get OBC that way.
footzz Posted September 15, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2019 (edited) If RCCL cancelled the port of call before your departure they are not going to offer any compensation, but, they also shouldn't charge you any port taxes and fees for the cancelled port. Aside from what Host Clarea mentioned, one could apply for the RCCL credit card offer that offers 10,000 points which is redeemable for $100 OBC. As far as the myVEGAS app, It's really very easy to take advantage of their offers. BUT, you have to book directly with RCCL through their Casino Royale dept. I just did one for a December cruise. It was simple, fast and well worth the effort for a $100 OBC. Edited September 15, 2019 by footzz
cruiseguy1016 Posted September 15, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 15, 2019 The easiest way to get OBC is to call RCI with a credit card number handy. Give them that number and they will give you all of the OBC that you want.

If you figure it out let us all know! Sometimes I get them from my TA. Other times from my RCCL visa or from booking onboard. Good luck. 2
Ourusualbeach Posted September 15, 2019 #8 Share Posted September 15, 2019 If you booked within the last 60 days and have not paid in full you can transfer it to a travel agent. Some e will offer obc.

We book directly with RC either online or on the phone (not through Casino Royale department) and we have no problem getting the $100 OBC applied. Just did it a few days ago for a cruise we booked for January online. Requested the My Vegas rewards certificate, got an e:mail the next day, and e:mailed back the info on our booking. The following day received an e:mail that the $100 OBC was applied.

If you do redeem points from an RCCL Visa, when does that $100 in OBC show up? I redeemed some and it hasn't shown up yet as available. Will I only see it once I am onboard? I had some OBC that was given by a TA, but the OBC from my redemption of points is not showing up.

They post the Visa point redemptions in order of sailing. It could be that you don't see it in the Cruise Planner until 2 weeks before the cruise. You can try calling the redemption people at 888-305-4626 and see if they can post your OBC earlier.

Thank you. If I haven't seen in a couple of weeks before cruising, I will give them a call. I just didn't know if it should have already appeared, but based on your answer that is not likely. Jahquis27 Posted September 16, 2019 #20 Share Posted September 16, 2019 I try to book my cruise when Royal is offering OBC. Then I end up with OBC from Royal and my TA usually matches or gives more. This time my TA matched what Royal was offering and provided specialty dinner 1 night.

Now I have a new TA, and I get 10% OBC after taxes & port charges. 🍷

matj2000 Posted September 16, 2019 #23 Share Posted September 16, 2019 You shouldn't have booked through the cruise line. That is a Rookie move. I always get some sort of OBC from my TA.. 1

Last week, when I cashed in my RCCL Credit Card points for OBC... it said if I wanted the OBC to be applied to my sailing PRIOR to the cruise (to use in the Cruise Planner)…. I had to call & have them apply it. Otherwise it will be applied onboard to use then or cash out.

That's a new addition (asking to use the OBC in the Cruise Planner), glad to see they are at least trying to handle that situation.
