Eastern flygirl Posted September 27, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2019 Has anyone visited the resort in Nassau. What is your opinion, and what transportation did you use to get their? Tired of Atlantis and wanted to try a new casino.
golfpccc Posted September 28, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2019 (edited) It's a beautiful resort, but have heard you can no longer walk around the grounds, the pool or beach area unless you are a registered guest. The casino is large and visitors are welcome to gamble!! We took the #10 bus, across the street and down a block from the straw market. or others have taken a taxi. Rare lazydayz Posted September 28, 2019 #3 Share Posted September 28, 2019 We took a taxi, which I think was $35 each way. If you can find two other people, it is probably worth it. Casino is very large and open. Drinks are good. A good change from Atlantis.
hannibal54 Posted September 28, 2019 #4 Share Posted September 28, 2019 The #10 Jitney bus is $1.25 per person each way.
Rare Tapi Posted September 28, 2019 #5 Share Posted September 28, 2019 Just word of caution, if you’re not a registered guest, you won’t be able to see much. I stay at the Meliá next door on a regular basis for work and I’ve walked over to the Baha Mar a few times for a change of scenery and they won’t allow me to go beyond the lobby/casino area. They won’t even allow me to pay out of pocket to eat at one of their restaurants. You have to be a registered guest and charge to your room. I think it’s a bit insane that they control it so tightly, specially when I’m actually trying to spend money there, but those are the rules.

BNBR Posted September 28, 2019 #7 Share Posted September 28, 2019 If all you are looking to do is the casino, then go for it. Much nicer than Atlantis. As others have said, dont expect access to the grounds outside of the casino and lobby areas. Which kind of sucks as you may wish to explore a bit. We have walked outside without being checked before, so who knows. If Churchills is open, go outside there and you could probably get out to the pool area. But don't count on it. It's the cigar bar right off the casino near the fountains. I've stayed there several times. It's a big, beautiful hotel with a much different experience than Atlantis. rt1092 Posted September 28, 2019 #9 Share Posted September 28, 2019 I used to be a very friendly place. We've been there about 8 times and always liked it (we cruise a lot). The last time we went things had changed greatly. Equal in every way to Atlantis. Now we don't get off the ship at all in Nassau.

We cruise to Nassau several times a year and visit friends developed over time in our favorite restaurant! We have never experienced unfriendliness - to the contrary folks are always friendly and courteous!

We don't get off the ship in a lot of ports in the Caribbean. Unless we have a specific reason. Having done almost 100 Caribbean cruises it's, been there done that. Kalousdi Posted September 30, 2019 #12 Share Posted September 30, 2019 We stayed there a month ago and it wis really nice. They do not sell day passes to the grounds and pools. You can definitely go to the casino and restaurants. All the tables have $25 minimums regardless of the time of day. I hope that helps.

lovelife Posted September 30, 2019 #14 Share Posted September 30, 2019 We were there a couple weeks ago. Took the $1,25 bus. Beautiful property and casino. Not a bar server in sight the entire time we were there so no drinks at all. I asked about their advertised $50 free play for new signups and they said it was for resort guests only and they are working on something for visiting cruise ship passengers. LESLIEKURZ Posted September 30, 2019 #15 Share Posted September 30, 2019 Any idea if they have Texas Hold Em in the day? I've seen mixed reviews and they are all a bit older. Atlantis didn't have any the last 4 or 5 times we were there.
Eastern flygirl Posted October 4, 2019 Author #16 Share Posted October 4, 2019 Thank you to everyone that responded to my post. We just arrived home from the Mariner of the Seas, with a port call in Nassau. We took the #10 bus to Baha Mar and it was so easy, and the drivers were so helpful. The casino was almost empty, and much better than Atlantis. We has a lot of fun and my husband even won a jackpot.

ZoeyVictoria Posted October 4, 2019 #18 Share Posted October 4, 2019 We were in Nassau in June and took the bus to a local beach. We knew only that it was a quiet street with public access to the beach between two houses (we described what we wanted to the bus driver and he told us when to get off), so don’t know the name of the beach, only that it is beyond Baha Mar. Eventually we decided to walk down the beach towards the port and look for a way to cross over to the street later. The place that we chose turned out to be Baha Mar. We weren’t questioned, so I assume we looked like guests who had been out on the beach, but we didn’t attempt to use chairs or purchase drinks, either. We are normally not the type of people who break rules or enter places we aren’t allowed, but it was really hot that day, it had been a long walk, and there were no signs related to “guests only”. The worst thing that could have happened was being asked to leave, which is what we were trying to do anyway. The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed our stroll out to the front of the building.

AmandaKaye79 Posted October 10, 2019 #22 Share Posted October 10, 2019 As others have said, you can go in the casino. When we were there in June, there were only 2-3 restaurants where you could use cash to eat. The others were private and for guests only. In fact, we tried to purchase a bottle of water from one of the vendor booths near the beach. I had already opened the water because I was so thirsty, we were taking out money to pay for the water, and he said they only accepted Baha Mar room cards for the charges. Basically, if you just want to hang at the casino, you should be fine. Most everything else requires a room card for purchases including restaurants and food truck stands.
