JFK to Port of New York

We will be doing a repositioning cruise that starts at the port in New York and ends in Port Canaveral.  We live in Connecticut so we'll be driving to New York.  We are thinking about parking our car at JFK and taking an Uber or Lyft to the port.  How easy it is to get to the port from JFK?  Does anyone know of the approx. cost?

Thank you

Kathy

It's easier or less easy depending on the time of day. During the rush hour its a nightmare-- you are much better off taking the AirTrain and changing to get into the city. Off peak Uber/Lyft work well-- about $75 for UberX and Lyft-- and about 40 min without traffic.

Depending on where in CT you are coming in from you might be better off parking in Stamford or New Haven and just taking Amtrak in.

Just curious: a repositioning from NY to Port Canaveral would have to hit a “distant foreign port” - probably Aruba, or Cartagena or the like - meaning a fairly long itinerary.  How would cost of JFK parking and car service to port  line up against other options?

I’ve done comparable sailing from NY: car service direct to port, flying back and car service from airport home for total of $250 - and a whole lot less hassle.

It’s a 15 day Caribbean cruise on the new Carnival Mardi Gras. As mentioned, check into parking at the Amtrak station coming down I-95 or the Metro North stations if you are coming down from the Hudson River area. Train into Manhattan then Uber/cab to the port.

We would much rather fly into Hartford, CT, coming home.  It is a 15 day cruise.  Maybe rent a car and drop off near the port in New York and have a family member pick us up in Hartford.

If you have the pick up option at Bradley at the end,   it might be good to think about Amtrak from Hartford to New York to join the cruise.  Driving into New York is a good thing to avoid.
