Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted January 1, 2020 Author #201 Share Posted January 1, 2020 We continued our walk through this colorful part of town Our energy was waning so we decided to look for a coffee shop like the kind that Amsterdam is famous for . Close , but no cigar . This sign would be nice reminder in case we forgot what port we were in today Behind this sign was a HUGE lizard

Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted January 1, 2020 Author #203 Share Posted January 1, 2020 This was the last group to cross followed by an ambulance As we watched them dance Pat took the video while I took some stills . But when we finished and we went to cross the bridge , somebody had moved it !
Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted January 1, 2020 Author #204 Share Posted January 1, 2020 The bridge was on the other side of the water . The red arrow is the pivot point and the blue arrow is pilot house for moving the bridge . An Atlantic Reefer ! Watching the Reefer pass These ferries run when the bridge is open Swinging the bridge back . The locals call it "The old swinging Lady" . And at the sound of the bell they're off ! Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted January 1, 2020 Author #208 Share Posted January 1, 2020 There's plenty to see , do and photograph here There is a row of shops between the bridge and fort here on the waterfront and a place to rest a sore knee in the fort

cat shepard Posted January 1, 2020 #210 Share Posted January 1, 2020 (edited) Any significance to the bell sounding at the end of the footbridge video? It seemed to start just as the moving bridge part was back in place. Hope Pat’s knee is better. BTW, I would love to be a bridge pilot, when I grow up. We think that the bell sounds when the bridge is about to open or is closed . Later that afternoon we were about to get off when the bell rang so we hopped off as it began moving . Yes her knee is is better . Her left and my right are both semi problematic so we would make a good team in a 3 legged race . It looks like a fun job ! Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted January 1, 2020 Author #212 Share Posted January 1, 2020 (edited) Back at the ship and with few people at the Lido we got a window seat and had a quite lunch ( our first at the Lido ) . The guy in the orange boat was trying to go under the pier until security stopped him . Edited January 1, 2020 by scubacruiserx2

No worries . I ordered some trekking poles since we hope to do some hiking in Norway and Iceland and that should help redistribute the weight and help with balance . Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted January 2, 2020 Author #218 Share Posted January 2, 2020 The walkway is the blue arrow and you continue on the walkway toward the red arrow which is the fort entrance . It also shows the infinity pool .
Rare scubacruiserx2 Posted January 2, 2020 Author #219 Share Posted January 2, 2020 The tea delivery was unexpected but nice to watch the world go by from the balcony . We like to have a local meal when we go ashore . We had made reservations with the Anchor Waterfront Restaurant in the fort which had great views of the city . Without explanation it was cancelled . Rare Bimmer09 Posted January 2, 2020 #224 Share Posted January 2, 2020 Joe and Pat, a great read which I just lapped up in one sitting. Thanks for the superb photos and for reminding me how colorful and cool Curacao (Willemstad) is. One of my favorite ports. Cheers! Norris
