We guessed it was keeping up with the ship looking for food scraps but never saw it land. Was just surprised how fast it was flying to keep up & we were a little worried the little guy would run out of energy & get disoriented over the water. Hopefully he made it to land. Canuker Posted January 25, 2020 #27 Share Posted January 25, 2020 It may have had a mate and/or a nest aboard the ship. I recall an artificial green hedge, on the open deck outside the buffet, of a ship that was home to a bevy of house sparrows, stowing away (or returning?) from North America to Europe. Plenty of scraps to feed on. They made it across.
lenquixote66 Posted January 25, 2020 #28 Share Posted January 25, 2020 On my last cruise, last month a bird that looked like a sparrow was flying alongside the ship in the Caribbean on its way north. It actually sat The the outside of the ship and was there for quite some time. evandbob Posted January 25, 2020 #29 Share Posted January 25, 2020 We have seen plenty of human wildlife on board the majority of our cruises.

Rare MicCanberra Posted January 25, 2020 #31 Share Posted January 25, 2020 But you do get to see some from other countries and experience their accents.

One of my daughters lived in the UK for a while and when she came back to the US used a GPS with a British accent.

Mike981 Posted January 26, 2020 #34 Share Posted January 26, 2020 I don't think we've seen anything out of the norm, but last week we had two large pods of dolphins follow the ship for quite some time. It was at the beginning of the cruise so it was neat way to start our trip.

But the human WILD life is much more prevalent on a cruise than in everyday life. Some people cruise just to go WILD. ☺️

A Swallow/Swift taking a break in the lee over the main midship pool area behind the forward superstructure. Also sea-going birds that really do belong out there. And flying fish, one time. All on the Southern Caribbean route, P.Rico to Barbados * A float plane climbs out of St. Thomas USVI. U know the one. * DOZENS of gulls on the pier at Sint Maarten * Fregata magnificens soaring above the ship. * Misc. gulls escort us out of St. Thomas: throwing chips helps, it seems * Another hi-altitude soarer, possibly F. magnificens again? * Raft of Sargassum floating by (and all the micro-life that bipotope sustains) * Finally, a large frog -spotted in the bathroom of a suite on Destiny!
