Laceygrace Posted January 22, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2020 Hello, I've been on two previous cruises and am looking to book another. I read a lot last time about booking with a PCC and then transferring to a TA. I've recieved quotes from both with the TA being a few hundred dollars less. Is there still a benefit to booking first with the PCC and transferring or would a seasoned cruiser suggest just going with the TA from the beginning? Thank you for your help! I_r_a Posted January 22, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 22, 2020 Hi L, I'd just go with the TA. Enjoy your cruise. Ira
DaveOKC Posted January 22, 2020 #3 Share Posted January 22, 2020 Why go through the hassle? Just book with the TA first, if its a better deal.
lazey1 Posted January 22, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2020 Make sure 1st that the price the TA is quoting includews all the port taxes and fees.
doone Posted January 22, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 22, 2020 AND be sure its a refundable fare..................
Rare Tom O. Posted January 22, 2020 #6 Share Posted January 22, 2020 I can think of no advantage of booking with a PCC. But what you might want to do is check with more than one TA, you might even save more.
Hobbsey Posted January 22, 2020 #7 Share Posted January 22, 2020 I say Go with the best deal, bottom line. Just make sure the TA is one who follows up and communicates well and quickly with price drops, upgrade offers and other cruise line notifications. They and not you will communicate any changes to the booking. good luck.
Alberta Quilter Posted January 22, 2020 #8 Share Posted January 22, 2020 And make sure that the TA does not charge a booking or cancellation fee...
Cruising-along Posted January 22, 2020 #9 Share Posted January 22, 2020 Ever since HAL changed their policy (you have 60 days to transfer to a TA instead of up to final payment as in the past) we book directly with our TA now. One time we did not was our most recent booking for 2021. Our PCC could help us with that booking but the TA didn't even have it on their site yet. So we just have it marked on the calendar to remember to transfer by a certain date.
Djptcp Posted January 22, 2020 #10 Share Posted January 22, 2020 In addition to the other suggestions regarding a TA, make sure he/she is a cruise expert and not someone who has never cruised before or who hasn't made a lot of cruise bookings. MAVIP Posted January 23, 2020 #11 Share Posted January 23, 2020 Another addition: make sure the PCC is or was quoting a price for exactly the same class of cabin as the TA. If it is a guarantee too. And whether perks are or are not included in the price.
