Using Mini Bar as Fridge

I read on another thread that people have had their cabin steward empty their mini bar so they can use it as a fridge?  Has anyone had experience with this?  Have you had a problem with charges afterwards?

Not on MSC, but I did this on Cunard and NCL in 2018.  I made it clear day 1.  They weren't overly happy to do it, but I had no charges issues.

You can do this without any problem. Last year on Seaside ours was empty anyway. We were in the Bella Interior cabin so maybe they just said why bother filling in lol?

Not on MSC but we regularly do this on Celebrity.  Its never been an issue with the cabin  steward when we have asked, and no charges have been added either.

I was on MSC Splendida and the cabin steward empty it without problems. No charges afterwards.

MSC last week.  We requested, he removed everything except what was in the door of the fridge.  Said he had to leave that.

Our cabin steward refused to remove the items in the mini bar. He said they would get charged if they were removed. Made the fridge useless.

I was on Meraviglia last week and my steward had no issue in emptying it (Oceanview room).

 

Tip: the bartenders didn't crack our Miller Lite cans, so we ordered two each and stockpiled them in the fridge 👍🏻

So far all four of our MSC cruises we have had the fridge emptied with nary an issue. We also hand the attendant $20 when we arrive which helps.

We just empty it ourselves and place the items aside. We get drinks from the bars and keep a few in the fridge. It's never been an issue.

Just off Divina today. No issues having items removed again this year. Two years ago on Seaside it was an issue and we simply removed the items ourselves and put them back at the end of the cruise.

We take out the items ourselves and put them to the side.
