Decided to head up to Truro this morning on a shopping trip as I need new shoes and other bits and pieces for our holiday Was surprised at how quiet it was up there, although that could be because it was raining! Needless to say that the sun decided to come out on the way home. My trip was a bit of a wasted journey. I couldn't find any shoes I liked in my size, Boots didn't have anything I wanted in stock, the only plus was that I got some buttons and cotton in the market, but forgot I also needed tailor's chalk!

Called in at Tescos on the way back which took longer that I expected as they had moved everything around. Why do they have to do that😖, it is so annoying!

You buy your shoes in Boots and pop in to Tresco on the way back from Truro to Carbis Bay.?

Confused (very) of Woking

A long, long time ago, when I lived in Truro as a young teenager (a really nice little city to grow up in - though the summer school holidays were spent mainly on the coast, by bike, with school friends) there was an ironmongers by the name of Mallet’s on the main street, along with Mutton’s the butchers. Loved that!

Not still there, are they?

Lovely to hear from you Harry and share your memories.  Sounds a bit famous fiveish.🤣

I hope to travel next week and yet again my repeat prescription may be a problem. I have 5 medications and with all but one have plenty spare so I could wait until my return and then collect. The problem one is a beta blocker which runs out next Monday and I MUST have a supply. I have a 8 week repeat and it always repeats when i want to go on a cruise. I ordered the prescription last Tuesday and the practice now say allow 6 days to process. On top of this Boots now have more delay in filling the prescription. There seems to be no way of short circuiting the process. If I get the expected ready to collect text from Boots I can relax or otherwise I will have to go to the pharmacy on Friday and plead my case for those beta blockers.

there is such a problem with prescriptions at the moment.  Mine are on a 2 month repeat - last time I had to ration some until Tesco text to say they were ready; this time I got in early with my repeat and have had to wait over a week for the "ready" text.

Good luck and I hope you get them on time

We are very lucky here in suburban Huddersfield, our surgery reacts to online medication requests promptly, normally 24 hours, and our local chemist normally turns them round in 24 hours.  Just had our latest renewal delivered yesterday which I requested last Thursday evening, so inside 4 days over a weekend seems excellent service to me.

I suppose it was, then. Cornwall was very different from the way it is now - and so were the roads. Having said that, our kids grew up not so very differently in the 1980s and 1990s elsewhere, but still fairly rural. Wandering freely around, never stuck inside, and learning the importance of socialisation.

Our daughter says she often gets comments about an idyllic Enid Blyton childhood!  And our grandchildren are now just as lucky.

Not so easy in big cities, but I bet it still is in Truro.

Is it possible to get your beta blockers from one of the online pharmacies? You’d need to register & do an “e-consult” with their qualified doc - and pay, of course! - but a months worth, say, would give you continuing ‘headroom’ wrt your prescription and future travel

I don’t know if this is possible; I don’t know if the cost is prohibitive, but it might be worth exploring?

My prescriptions have been on four week repeats for a while now.  When I said to the Dr. 'is that because we might not last for more than four weeks, and it would be a waste of tablets' , he smiled and more or less agreed.

My tablets used to be four weeks repeat and now they seem to be a month in advance since I

enrolled into our local chemist delivery service . They do everything ,I don't have to even go

online to order from the doctors ,they do everything ,even put the tablets into blister booklets

to help me keep track of when to take them.

Just checked I have 6 weeks supply and next week they will send another 4 weeks supply.

I wonder if my doctors are confident that I will last more than 4 weeks ? :classic_unsure:

I hope everyone is  ok ,have a good day :classic_love:

The latest on my prescription chaos is I checked the 8 week repeat cycle and last time they were dispensed on Saturday the 16th July and 8 weeks from then is this Saturday 10th September. Hopefully that gives me some negotiating advantage. For future cruises the Arvia one next April is a problem as the 8 week repeat date is in the middle of the 14 day cruise.

My daily tablets are ordered online every 4 weeks….

Now I would have thought that being a reasonably healthy 62 year old it would make sense to re-issue my BP tablets every 8 weeks - less work for those that approve the request and less work for the pharmacist that dispenses it. But maybe that’s too simplistic……

That's good news for us then😉 Ours are every eight weeks.
