Future Bookings Filling Up?

Have a May cruise which I am anticipating to be cancelled. Searching cruises to book with what will most likely be FCC and I am finding several that are almost full. This would be for October 8 day cruises out of Miami. The decks only available for most part are 1/2 and the balconies are almost gone. I am also seeing something that irks me, just does, don’t know why. You can get an upper/lower room for no additional cost but if you want a king the prices are adding $5-7.50 per day per person!  I would imagine with the next round of April/May cancellations looming it might be hard to find a cruise for the back half of 2020. Anyone else seeing ships being close to full when doing dummy bookings?

I know what you are talking about. Similar situation and believe that our cruise is going to be cancelled.  Definitely seeing less of a selection on the two bookings I have my eye on.

However, I believe for the cancelled cruises they are allowing people to rebook into the first half of 2022.  My wife says if we can’t get on a cruise before the end of 2020 then she just wants to take the refund.  I looked at the same cruise and same rooms and the price for the same time in 2021 (cruises not up year for end of May 2022 ... or at least I didn’t look at them) are about 20% higher then what I am booked with right now.

All part of the uneasiness happening right now.  I hope we get to cruise.  I also hope all this works out favorably for you.  Happy sailing!

I fear the FCC won't be as valuable as it first seems, because it will create extra demand for the cruises before the FCC expires, thus keeping prices higher than normal. I'd think it will be at it's worst for about 6 months after cruises resume, because they'll be, say, a year's worth of demand competing for 6 months worth of cruises.

Of course, to some degree that will be partially offset by people that are scared off cruising after the coronavirus incidents.

I hope this message finds you in good health and spirits.

First cruise is in Oct. 2020 on the Dream out of Galveston for wife's birthday. (2 people/1 cabin)

Second cruise is in late May 2021 on the Glory for daughter's HS graduation (4 people/2 cabins)

All booked now to take advantage of the free drinks on us in the casino and the $500 per cabin OBC for each ($1500 total).

Fingers crossed we can make one, IF NOT BOTH, of them!!  We love Carnival and hope they bounce back nicely from this major setback.

If you think carnival prices are rising go look at rcl. They are giving a 125% fcc no obc or a refund, so everyone is willing to spend more than last time to replace their cruise. I was down to seeing only 1 cruise this year in sept that would only be 125% more than I paid ... then it was gone.

I'm april 26 so not even cancelled yet and rebooked next january.

I see a lot saying oh prices will go down soon, but rcl fcc is good thru the end of 2021, so they might not come down that fast. Prices are definitely up for rcl. I think all those fcc's people have they need to use or with carnival  you want that nice obc.

I did carnival vista last time so did rcl this time. Even with paying a little more than carnival prices, it was still hard to find one I could use the 125% on.

Lots of those fcc's out there. Many cancelled and got them and now have to use them or lose them.

If prices come down great, if not then the one cruise next January works for me until prices settle back down.

First was allowing people to cancel and get a 100% fcc, then almost 30 days carnival cancelled. We got another 30 coming soon, then at least another 30 days after that cancelled.

Some hotels in Galveston closed up until sometime in June, I'd say they dont expect cruisers until then.

Add in carnival fcc has to be used within 1 year, and people been getting them for the last month... so many have to be rebooked by feb, march etc as the cancellations roll on. ... and some think we may not sail again until as late as august or sept.

At least with the rcl vouchers you have all of next year to use them.

The cancelled cruises are given up until the end of 2022 on Carnival.  If RCL is only giving until the end of 2021, then the congested bookings, in theory, will not be as bad on Carnival.  The FCC on Carnival are good for sailings that have not been released yet.

the attached photo is a screen shot of what is being offered to cancelled cruises found on the Carnival website.

Yes I noticed the same thing. We are booked on a May cruise that I expect to cancel. Yesterday I booked a 2021 cruise. I’m picky about my cabin choice so I didn’t want to wait for the next swath of cruises to be cancelled. I paid for my cruise with carnival gift cards so I’m locked into another cruise with them one way or the other.

Based on what I am seeing, hearing from above when the next round of cancellations hit it would appear that the majority of 7/8 day cruises on the back half of the year will be filled. For myself, I hope they just don’t do another 30 days but include the entire month of May as my cruise is the 16th.

I think it's a very generous offer.

600 OBC with more than two and half years to Cruise is a very good deal

I agree! We were scheduled to be cruising 3/14 -3/22. We canceled a few days before we were to sail and immediately rebooked a twice-as-long Panama Canal Cruise for next Jan at a very nicely reduced rate. And then they gave us $600 OBC on top of it. I’m glad we rebooked early and I think Carnival is doing a really great job.

But another cruise line owned by carnival, Costa is not so generous.

they are offering me 100% refund of my deposit for my 2 Cruises in march April 20 21

OR

transfer of the 2 deposits to 2 future Cruises before 30 November 2020 with a 30% discount on the 2 future Cruises

OR

transfer of the 2 deposits to 2 future Cruises after 30 November 2020 with a 10% discount on the 2 future Cruises

They know that there will be many fcc users, so they have kept the future Cruise prices disproportionately overpriced

Canceled our May 3rd today and re booked for an August 2020. The price was low and we received additional obc for the remaining amount.
