Is cruising finished with travel insurance now excluding CV19?

I don't expect a decision now but would hope that one might be reached before I pay a hefty balance for a cruise that may not be able to stick to its schedule due to COVID concerns/restriction in other counties.

I agree its not a decision they can reach at the moment but world cruises are a one off type of cruise visiting many counties which may or may not have covid restrictions etc so even if the insurance issues are sorted, it would be considerate of P&O if they made an earlier decision on this like they have done with the Iona itinerary pushing it back to 2021.

But they haven't pushed Iona back to 2021?!?

People will still keep booking but they will now take a full coverage insurance from the agency to get 75%+ back in case of COVID related incidents. I also dont believe that demand will anyhow drop, instead, I expect it to skyrocket in a few months. So if there are hot deals.. you better take them - but aim on Autumn

It looks like it already has skyrocketed for next year. I know that's because of people transferring but the cabins are really limited on a lot of cruises! Trying to hold out for our May cruise to be cancelled to use FCC but worried there'll be nothing left!

Sorry do not agree. defiantly will not sky rocket, to many regulars affected, and also cruising next year will still be in lock down so no shortage.IMHO

In case it's slipped your mind, exactly the same thing is happening here. And like here, measures will be taken to control it.  I don't doubt it'll be a mammoth task to get every day life up and running again whilst also trying to keep the virus under control. But there is so much going on to try and help. It won't go on indefinitely. It can't. If it did, the world's economy would be destroyed. There's already talk of a possible vaccine this year and trials going on to determine what drugs can be used to treat the disease in the meantime. We will come out the other end and life will return to normal eventually.

So your saying, stop virus! enough is enough! you are destroying the worlds economy, are you real! this is a plague that has no boundaries 1.75 million have it over 107,00 deaths, some 50,000 in critical condition all figures growing.

Talks are one thing, they have not found a vaccine so far and if and when they do, some 208 countries will be vying for it. This is the real world

You appear to be talking about the CFAR insurance available in the US.  That is not available here - for a newly booked cruise cover for COVID is not available at all.  P&O have very few people from the US on their ships.

I've already outlined the possible ways that they will overcome this. And of course they haven't found a vaccine yet, the virus has only existed for 4 months.

So in your scenario, they do nothing, let the virus do what it wants and kill millions of people?

Rather than ridiculing what I've outlined (which is actually fact rather than my opinion), why don't you explain your theory on how the world will get back to normal again?

Oh  so sorry, no scenario and no suggestion from me that they do nothing  I do not have a theory, on how the World will get back to normal as you put it.

I believe normal as we knew it will not exist.

We will need be start again.

The damage to Society will be greater then most living people, will have ever seen, or experienced, idiots that want to flout the laws, and advise that we are given, by not staying at home will make it worse

Third world countries will be decimated. 917 UK residence drew their last breath in the past 24 hours

Shortage of cabins, a joke

If the situation stayed the same would P&O allow us to travel without full medical cover? Its a nightmare

Well, you would be unwise to travel without full insurance in the current environment  unless you are very, very rich, in which case you may as well pay the premium in the first place.

Personally, I can't see the attraction in world cruises. You pay a load of money to travel with, in the main,  other Brits,  just to spend a few hours in some of the greatest cities in the world.  What's the point?

This sounds about right to me. Stephen Hawkin always said that humankind had to find a way to travel into space if it wanted their kind to continue. He cites  a virus that we could not control as one of the two ways he thought human life on earth would end.

CV19 could be the one. Who knows?

They haven’t.

As for insurance, once we’re down to minimal new infections, it’s possible that the cruise lines will take responsibility for Covid cases spread on ships as long as you were well on joining. Saga have already suggested something similar as their own insurance excludes Covid-19.

A second option is a move towards ‘fit to travel’ travel insurance.

As an aside, my travel insurance which is bundled with my credit card have written to me confirming that Covid-19 is covered under health clauses as long as no symptoms were present just before / at the time of travel.
