Most aren’t falling for the FCC on Carnival according to:

I took the FCC only because I'm already indebted to carnival, since my full cruise was paid with carnival gift cards. If they go under, I'm ***** out of luck anyway with the gift cards. I do think they'll come back, although cruising may look different than it did in the past.

The FCC for us is a joke - moving our Alaska cruise from May 2020 to May 2021 is $750 more and loss of Costco offered $400 OBC (2 rooms).  So there goes $1150 of the $1200, and having to pay more just to get on board.  Requested refund and will re-evaluate when this all settles down

We did the same thing.  Our cruise and Fly2Fun (Europe!) was paid with gift cards.  I, too, think cruising will continue, but with major modifications. I believe there will be less "self-serve", better air filtration, and enhanced screening of passengers.

We currently have a cruise booked for June 2020 and another for October 2021.  If offered, we will take the FCC/OBC and just transfer it to the October 2021 cruise.  Sure Carnival will have our funds for a little bit longer but it isn't earning too much at the bank right now either lol

Wow, I am surprised that it is as high as 45%, can’t imagine that Carnival is not pleased with the number. My headline is A Surprising 45% Of Carnival Cruisers Are Taking The Incentive And Will Cruise Again. 🤷‍♀️

Plus the 45% number is a known number, at least a few of the 55% are undoubtedly still undecided. That nearly 50% are rebooking is a good sign, especially under the circumstances, a lot of those cruisers are in a different financial situation than they were even a month ago. I sure hope they are able to get those refunds out soon, that is definitely a problem for those involved and Carnival too.

Thanks for the chuckle, that over the top headline was worth the price of admission. Happy Easter and Happy Cruising!

I'd select the option for a refund.

You would need to have a cruise that was cancelled to do that.  On the o there hand, we took the FCC on our 4 cancelled cruises.  Come on aboard, I will buy you a drink?

I was playing chicken with Royal and decided I didn't want to be stuck with an FCC when they cancelled my Allure TA so I simply called to cancel for a full refund. My deposit was refundable as were flights and additional payments so I wasn't tied into the booking like many others.

I've had several flights and land vacations impacted by this and always selected the refund instead of a travel credit.

FCC on four cruises- should be a nice amount of onboard credit you picked up. Congrats.

All depends when I get on a ship.

Have to admit I "fell" for the $600 OBC for my canceled Radiance cruise and since I just booked yesterday, I expect the numbers will tick higher once people decide what cruise they want to replace their canceled ones with. Decided to get Cheers although after my Vista cruise I didn't think I would do it again. But what the heck - at 20% off I couldn't resist. Saves me from having to lug on some sodas and I plan to use the OBC in the casino. Mom and I are going on the Breeze in December now. Excited to try a Cove Balcony. You know me, I'm fine with an inside, but they have always peeked my interest so we'll give 'er a whirl!

Nice to see you posting, hope you did not “fall” to hard.  Still need to cruise together some day whenever cruise ships sail again....

Lol! Yes we do. How about the Breeze December 13?! Pretty sure things will be up and running by then. And if not, I'll take some more OBC!

Ahhh. The bastion of truth, the Motley Fool.   Curiously, how are the other two of the big three doing in this area?

I wish I knew their numbers. I know I canceled my August cruise to Alaska three weeks ago on NCL at 143 days outside the 120 day cancellation window and haven’t seen a dime yet.

It's not that we didn't fall for it .... we were pretty much on the fence about what to do.  We had a week in Maui booked followed by a 10 day Honolulu to Vancouver cruise on Carnival Spirit that was canceled. Carnival doesn't have that itinerary on their schedule anytime in the next two years.  My SIL and niece were going with us and we told them we'd do whatever they wanted - get a refund or take the FCC with $600 OBC.  The OBC was very tempting but my niece is getting married next year so unless we could fit a cruise in this year (and who knows when that could be) it just wasn't going to happen for the four of us.  We decided to take the refund and rebook our Hawaii trip as a land vacation in 2022.  Maybe we'll get the money from Carnival by then.  😂

I actually think we will cruise sometime in the next year - but it will be more of a spur of the moment thing if a good deal pops up.  And we'll go out of Port Canaveral so we can take a Lyft over that morning and not have to deal with flights, etc.  Dealing with three different airlines waiting for them to cancel our flights hasn't been a lot of fun.

I opted for refund over the OBC since the same cruise at any other time we could sail within the timeframe would have cost us more than $600 so it negated the bonus OBC. Our other consideration was that the fourth guest that was to sail with us on the cancelled cruise may not be sailing with us on a future cruise (my DD's friend) and the credits were non-transferrable from what I could gather. I WILL sail with Carnival again, but want to do it on my terms rather than theirs....

I believe the FCC/OBC is only good towards a new cruise... not an existing cruise, which is why I selected a full refund.  Otherwise, I too would have I have moved it to my 3 existing cruises booked for 2021.

I book a June 22 cruise two years ago with Carnival and paid for most of it with gift cards. If this cruise is cancelled I will select FCC if they offer some kind of bonus. I have travel insurance that covers me if the provider goes bankrupt or otherwise cannot provide the service. I have spoken to the travel insurance company who told me the insurance can be transferred to a new cruise,

I was told by my PvP you can transfer to an existing cruise .
